🌍💰 The end of the Petrodollar: More Than Just Oil 💰🌍 On February 14, 1945, Franklin D. Roosevelt, on the way back from Yalta, met King Abdul Aziz ibn Saud and obtained to have the oil sold exclusively in US dollars, thus establishing the dominance of the US. This agreement, tying oil sales to the U.S. dollar, has shaped global economics and geopolitics ever since. On June 9th, Saudi Arabia let the agreement expire. Saudi Arabia will now sell oil products in Chinese RMB, Euro, Yen... I’m beyond grateful for the researchers asking and answering the tough questions in the dairy space. I think we can all agree that cow-calf contact is one of them. Marine DURRENWACHTER with the University of Vermont and Aarhus University investigated both full vs. part-time cow-calf contact and abrupt vs. gradual weaning on cow milk curves. The results suggest part-time cow-calf contact can lead to similar milk yield relative to control (i.e, no contact) dams following calf weaning. Under a full contact system, gradually weaning the calf improved milk yield during and after weaning. Both of these outcomes are a remarkable testament to the responsiveness of the mammary gland to external stimuli. This is only the beginning of a series of work in this area, I’m sure. Litter is considered one of the most important farming inputs that directly and indirectly impacts the overall breeder performance. The direct impacts include biosecurity, as litter is usually outsourced. If the litter was not managed correctly, it will create problems like ammonia build-up, increase humidity, foot pad dermatitis, and/or breast blisters that indirectly affect the bird’s performance.
