IPL Governing Council announces Player Regulations 2025-2027. 1. Teams can retain SIX players from their existing squad via RTM (Right to Match) or Retention. 2. IPL teams can have as many as FIVE capped players (Indian/Overseas) and TWO (maximum) uncapped players. 3. The auction purse per IPL team is 120 Cr. 4. Overseas players will be needed to register for the Big player auction or face ineligibility in the next player auction. 5. Any player who registers, gets picked up, and then makes himself unavailable ahead of the start of the season will face a two-year ban. 6. Any Indian player who has not played international cricket for five years from the start of the upcoming season will be treated as uncapped. ( For MS Dhoni) 7. Great article here about the growth of Cricket in the US - mainly dominated by the rest of the world, cricket is the 2nd most popular sport in the world (only trailed by soccer/futbol)! Among these, the Women’s Premier League (WPL) window has been shifted from February-March to January-February beginning in 2026. This move allows major leagues like The Hundred (August) and the Women’s Big Bash League (#WBBL) (November) to operate without overlap, thereby increasing player participation across tournaments.
