The Vanta EMEA team brought the 🔥 to QBRs this week in Dublin! We have an incredible team on the ground here in Europe. I’ve also had many insightful conversations this month with folks who have built some of the greatest SaaS businesses on the continent. A few of their bits of advice and wisdom include: - Every business, country, and segment comes with its own nuances. Don’t copy someone else’s strategy. Leverage benchmarks but know your business will be unique. - Many SaaS companies entering Europe repeat the same mistakes time and time again. Leverage your local friends, investors and contacts to see around corners. - Compliance and regulation are taken very seriously in Europe. This should mean our opportunity here is tremendous. - Don’t settle. Go big, think broad, be ambitious. If you don’t, someone else will. Thank you EMEA team for your hospitality! Can’t wait to be back soon.

AND ANOTHER AWARD GOES TO… Opening up my LinkedIn feed this morning and I was greeted with more of what seems like endless self-acclaim for winning some industry award of which there are now apparently thousands. Okay – I get it. LinkedIn is now a platform for narcissism, self-aggrandizement, back slapping and just general “Look at me how great I and my team are” posts. But the whole award thing has gotten out of hand. Because business has fallen into the trap of feeling compelled to compete and give folks the chance for industry awards, the whole industry awards business has become expert at tapping this vein – creating award after award, and an endless tier of prizes within each award category to feed a greedy industry that serves no true benefit. Ahh, but “awards make us feel good” you’d argue. They say who we are in the vast competitive pecking order. Well, I’d argue – “Uh don’t we all work for the collective goal of driving business – ours or the clients?” “Isn’t the actual reward just seeking SATISFACTION – creatively, emotionally and intellectually – ACHIEVED WITH A JOB DONE TO THE BEST OF OUR ABILITIES?” “And then when done often enough – and measurably enough – that we see the financial rewards through promotions, raises, bonuses (clients renewing contracts?) et al?” There’s a term called “scarcity value” that applies here. Think of awards like pies. The first one you dig into is great. But the more and more you have of them, the less and less you derive joy from each, therefore diminishing the value (but likely increasing your stomach ache!). Personally, I’d rather receive or dole out the occasional and sincerely offered “Great job [NAME HERE]” than almost anything else. But then I grew up with one boss especially stingy with compliments – but each rare pronouncement making me feel like I could walk on water. So how about it people? Less sharing of awards on this platform (if you want to keep paying for the privilege of displaying more shiny statues go ahead), more meaningfully recognizing rare and true achievement. Oh, and if you enjoyed this post, please no awards or bouquets – a simple “like” is all the affirmation I need. #TOOMANYAWARDS #SUCCESSISITSOWNREWARD

Friday Wins: Celebrating Progress and Encouraging Growth 🎉 Happy Friday, everyone! It’s time to celebrate our weekly wins and encourage each other to keep pushing forward. Here are a few of my highlights from this week: 1. 𝗡𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆: I've improved my networking goals every day, making sure to stay consistent with speaking to new people. It’s harder than most people think, but I encourage you to do it. Network with people that will get you to the next level. 15 minutes a day is better than zero. Start somewhere. 2. 𝗖𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗹𝘆 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸: After being locked out of my Calendly for quite some time, customer support finally pulled through and got me back into it. I can finally schedule meetings again! 3. 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗮 𝗕𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲: I finished a new business course packed with valuable knowledge that I can now share with others. Always be learning! 4. 𝗚𝘆𝗺 𝗠𝗶𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗻𝗲: Last Saturday, I hit a 50kg dumbbell bench press for 10 reps! I’ve maintained my gym schedule and even gave myself an extra day of rest, which allowed me to power through and have another excellent session. 5. 𝗖𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗕𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗸𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵: I met with a client who had a breakthrough moment, realizing that if he doesn’t make any decisions, he’ll be stuck in a bad routine. He acknowledged that he was his own worst enemy, and I was happy to help him discuss and work through that. 6. 𝗛𝗮𝗶𝗿𝗰𝘂𝘁 𝗩𝗶𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 (𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝗳): I got a haircut and it didn’t completely make me cry at the outcome. Still on the hunt for a barber in Prague that wows me. Eyes 👀 open! 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗸 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗴𝗼𝗼𝗱. Now, I want to hear about your wins! What were your highlights this week? Share your victories, big or small, in the comments below. Let’s celebrate together and keep the momentum going! 🚀

🎯 Small Wins, Big Momentum 2025 is off to a fantastic start for our team! 🙌 We’ve upgraded our CRM system to streamline how we work and better serve our customers. On top of that, we’re putting the final touches on our exciting new Corporate Partnership Program, set to launch soon. These milestones may feel like stepping stones, but they are the foundation of bigger successes to come. It’s easy to get caught up in chasing the “next big thing,” but real progress often comes from celebrating and building on each step forward. Every upgrade, every initiative, and every small win brings us closer to achieving our larger goals. Taking time to acknowledge these moments isn’t just about reflection—it’s about fueling motivation and maintaining momentum. Success isn’t a single leap; it’s a series of strides, each one worthy of recognition. As we look ahead to an exciting year, we’re proud of how far we’ve come and eager for what’s next. What’s a milestone or win you’re proud of as the year begins? Let’s celebrate progress together! 🎉 Amanda Priestley Georgia Paulsen 👊

You win some, you lose some. Everybody who plays games knows that. Admittedly, we tend to quote this phrase more often after a loss. But guess what? ***Wise Guys Events won the Bernie DeKoven Big Fun Award*** If you're not familiar with Bernie - friends called him Blue - and his work, you are in for a real treat. Bernie was an influential game designer, scholar, and author in the 20th century (ha). He was instrumental in the design of many games and activities you know, even if you aren't otherwise familiar with this field. Ever heard of Ultimate Frisbee? The parachute game from elementary school P.E.? If you answered yes, you know Bernie's legacy. Before his death, Bernie worked in partnership with IndieCade, the International Festival of Independent Games, to create an award in his name to support and promote the longevity of his life's work: silly monkey business. And this year, IndieCade adjudicators honored Wise Guys Events by awarding unto us the Bernie DeKoven Big Fun Award. Head Honcho Myles Nye will be present in LA to accept the award, to participate in IndieCade Night Games, and to join a Creators' Retreat. If you're in downtown LA on Friday or Saturday night, stop by to say hello. And join in the fun! It's what Bernie would have done.
Big Fun! Yes! It's @wiseguysevents winning our Bernie DeKoven Big Fun award!
