Recruiters: jobs seekers are looking for facts about their struggle. They are getting ghosted, and struggling to land the job after positive interviews time and time again. TikTok creators are making big claims about corporate hiring practices and may explain the struggle of many to land a role. “The state created 50,000 jobs… It doesn’t mean companies hired 50,000 jobs… Companies are creating phantom jobs that they have no budget to hire for… they report to the state the number of jobs they are hiring for… the companies are able to get a break on their unemployment insurance… many of the jobs are not jobs they are just numbers on a sheet and they allow the employers to save money” -Jim @ugly_shirts is commenting on @itsdagtv video on TikTok. Please say these practices are not true and struggling corporate job hunters are not wasting countless hours on ghost job opportunities. Tag your favorite corporate recruiter and gain some insights. #hiring #ghosting #candidateexperience #recruitinglife #jobseekers #jobhunting #hr

I am sure that everyone has seen the below video on TikTok or other social media channels this weekend. I’m not going to cover the right or wrong on this but cover off to companies that more of this will come, over the weekend a number of other similar videos were uploaded. Social media is the new Glassdoor, you and your companies need to be prepared for this: - Ensure you are crystal clear with reasoning for termination or layoffs - Think if this was recorded would I say this or do this? - Ensure everyone has all the details for the call - Terminations shouldn’t be unexpected for performance - Get your leaders to do these calls with HR - Be transparent on the details, as far as you can legally - Where possible do it in person not Zoom - Train everyone in the importance of communication and doing this well I suspect these will happen more and more in 2024 and is now the trend for Gen Z, train your managers on this. I also think this will roll into interviews and interview feedback calls, in particular rejection ones. Now more than ever you need to ensure your teams are trained on this. #hrcommunity #newtrends #interviewtips #gethired #interviewertrainer #tacommunity #recruiting #recruitinghelp

To all of my TikTok friends and #connections. I need some advice. I have applied to a lot positions at Tiktok since March in the T&S department, half of which had internal referrals. Needless to say, all of them have been turned down and I'm starting to get frustrated. I've updated my resume with each application, made sure I used an ATS friendly format, aligned my skills to the requirements, and even created cover letters to post with the resume. If anybody has any advice for me and know what else I could do to be noticed, will you please let me know. I know that there are a few of you who have worked alongside me and know my skills and work ethic. I could be a perfect match for these positions I'm trying so hard to not feel discouraged. Thank you. #opentowork #JobSeeking #TrustAndSafety #ContentModeration #CustomerService #CustomerExperience #JobSearch #Hiring #Recruitment #JobOpportunity #CareerTransition #WorkFromHome #RemoteWork #Accenture #TeamManagement #contentmanagement #AI #SafetyFirst

"As companies from the start-up Discord to Google have shed hundreds of jobs in recent weeks, some tech workers are taking to social media to share their layoff experiences, and many of these videos have gone viral. They show people crying as they talk with human resources or going through their daily routine knowing a mysterious appointment on their calendar is likely to result in their termination. The trend is part of a movement driven by Generation Z and millennials to share every aspect of their lives on social media, from stories about a bad date to deeply personal revelations during “get ready with me” videos of daily routines like applying makeup, according to career experts. The layoff videos and accompanying job-hunting posts on sites like LinkedIn and X are shedding new light on a private moment many people try to hide. “The boundary between the personal and professional has been broken,” said Sandra Sucher, a Harvard economist who studies layoffs." #layoff #tech Watch Me Lose My Job on TikTok https://lnkd.in/dPMiwDcp

Although I am thankful, getting rejected after the final interview has a bit more of a bite to it than the hundreds of rejections I am get from the ATS bots. Despite the letdown, I am thankful for the experience and the new people I have met along the way. Shout out to the recruiters. From my perspective they are essential to getting opportunities in this day and age. If you are a recruiter in my network, thank you for keeping me in mind. I appreciate you. Okay. Well another almost. Time to move on. I am keeping myself busy. 1. do something self-care related (usually Zwift, VR, Switch, coding, or cleaning) 2. apply for jobs in every way I know how 3. continue working on my craft 4. be present with my fam and friends 5. dig in my compost heap / lawn care (sometimes is self-care too lol) As always check out https://lnkd.in/eSp-DzPr. You can track my crafting progress in github, follow me on twitter, check in every friday for updates, or don't. I accept that too 😘 #castinganet #newopportunities #recruitersrock #jobhunting #freakyfridays

"10% of hires are coming from cold applications" That means 90% of hires are coming from referrals, recruiters, and connections. Recently we have seen layoffs from almost all major tech companies such as #Google, #Meta, #Netflix, #Microsoft, #Spotify. Here's what I recommend you to do: 1. Stop cold applying to thousands of jobs You'll spend an immense amount of energy and time applying to all these jobs only to get rejected by almost all of them. It's the least optimal way to apply for jobs. 2. Get a Referral Most companies have a referral system in place where a current employee can refer a friend and if that friend gets hired the employee receives a bonus. Make connections and reaching out to people at companies you want to work. Ask questions and be curious and see if they'd be willing to be a referral for you. 3. Work with Recruiters Reach out to them on LinkedIn, cold call and email them, and work with as many as you can. Recruiters work directly with employers to find employees that fit their criteria. Working with them can get you direct access to hiring managers. If the recruiter likes you it can make a world of difference as they can vouch for you and push for your interviews. 4. Optimize your online Presence Make sure your LinkedIn profile is up to date, engaging, and reflects your skills and experiences. This makes you more discoverable to recruiters and hiring managers. Right now the job market is tough. But companies are still hiring especially #TikTok so do not give up, update your resume, make sure it is relevant to the Job you are applying for. Stay patient and persistent and make sure you concentrate your energy efficiently so you don't get burnt out in the application phase. ✅ Make sure to follow Me for future opportunities at TikTok. This TikTok was powerful to watch! This is exactly how I felt when I was laid off in 2022. My new employer was acquired a month after I was hired and in my 6 months, I had 3 different bosses (1 quit, 1 fired, and 1 from acquiring company). The last boss from the acquiring company, 1 week after working together filled out an extremely detailed Performance Improvement Plan that criticized me professionally and personally in detail (34 points!) This PIP had items I could not control and items of improvement that were not in my job description. The new manager had no idea what I was hired for and didn't care. If the company would have laid me off due to acquisition that would have been understandable, but instead they laid me off based on a BS performance review, all so they could avoid paying unemployment. To receive 2 weeks of severance I had to sign a contract, stating that I wouldn't "defame the company' among other things, this practice has now been made illegal (https://lnkd.in/ey_9g9Fw). This is the story of countless people affected by layoffs! Glad someone's experience like mine is getting attention and bringing heat to Cloudflare for their bad hiring/firing practices! #jobmarket #layoffs #venting

It’s been 3.5 months since I was laid off from my previous agency job. Anyone who knows me can attest that this has been the longest I’ve been unemployed since I was a senior in high school! I’ve always had a zest for work and doing SOMETHING always gave me the satisfaction of feeling like I had purpose. I have seen reports of the job market being positively high, please point me in that direction!! Along with my peers on LinkedIn who have also fallen victim to layoffs, we are unfortunately not seeing the results favor a booming job market! With all of this said, I want to thank LinkedIn for giving me a platform to create countless connections through networking and sliding into DM’s of potential employers. I also want to thank ChatGPT because there are only so many ways to word why I would be a perfect candidate for a position (I just want to work, damnit!). My connections who are sending me opportunities that they come across in their feeds that they’d think I’d be a good fit for, thank you for that, you know who you are. Oh, and shout out to the agencies and recruiters who've ghosted me within the past 3 months, you know who you are too 👎🏼. If you know of any openings that you think an extremely extroverted and determined #socialmediastrategist with 8 years of experience would be a good fit for, please, slide into MY dm’s! I am #opentowork and would love to bring my experience and my optimistic zeal for life to a team near you! #socialmediamarketing #socialmediastrategy #socialmediamanager #socialmediaforhire #contentstrategy #agencylayoffs #socialmedia
