From the Iowa Disaster Human Resource Council: Communities in NW Iowa are still in need of volunteer assistance to help with recovery and rebuild from recent flooding. There are approximately 300 open cases. Groups and organizations are welcome and encouraged! A part-day, full-day, or multi-day volunteer experience can be arranged. No experience is needed, just a willingness to work hard, get dirty, and help the community. Volunteers will be matched with vetted organizations who will lead in your clean-up efforts. Training, work equipment, and supplies are provided. Please wear closed-toed shoes. Duties for clean-up efforts will include moving debris from basements, and cleaning/scrubbing floors, walls, and studs. Some of the work may require the use of tools, which will be provided. Volunteers will use shovels or other scooping tools to remove mud, muck, silt or other typical semi-solid material from a home. Damaged construction-related materials such as drywall, insulation, floorboards, paneling and cabinets will be removed using hammers, PryBar, Crowbars, Cat Claws, and other hand held tools. Wire brushes and soft brushes will be utilized to scrub the studs to remove moldy debris and open the pores of the wood to allow the fungicide grade spray to eradicate any remaining particles that may remain in the wood. Volunteers will only be expected to scrub and help prep for spray. Spraying will be handled by trained team members to ensure the safety of all involved. If you or a group are available to help, please email contact@idhrc.org.

So honored to be a small part of preparedness, response and recovery:
I love this part of our work. A devastating tornado recently hit Delaware County, but in times of crisis, we stand together. The Delaware County Foundation is proud to announce that we're teaming up with the Red Cross to provide vital funds for local relief efforts. Today, I was able to present Cory Paul Executive Director of the American Red Cross of the Greater Columbus Chapter a check for $10,000. Together, we can make a difference. #delawarecountyohio #collaboration #CommunityStrong #RedCross #TornadoRelief 🏠❤️

Twenty-three years after the 9/11 attacks, the 9/11 Day nonprofit has transformed the anniversary into a powerful symbol of national unity. This year, over 30 million Americans are expected to participate in the 9/11 Day observance, volunteering, making donations, and engaging in acts of service to honor those lost and the spirit of compassion that arose in response to the tragedy. 'There's no better way for all Americans to honor those killed and injured on 9/11, and the many who rose in service in response to the attacks, than for all of us and our governmental leaders to put aside our differences for at least a day and join together in unity to help others in need,' said David Paine, president and co-founder of 9/11 Day. This September 11, more than 30,000 volunteers will assemble over eight million meals for those at risk of hunger across 21 cities. These 'Meal Packs for 9/11 Day' events are supported by corporations like @relianceinc, @delta, @jpmorgan, @pfizer, and @tractorsupplyco, making it the largest single day of corporate volunteer engagement in America. With nearly 100 million Americans born after 9/11, the nonprofit provides free educational materials to teach students about the tragedy and inspire service. 'This year we are delivering a brand new set of free educator lessons and activities,' Paine said. Through service and remembrance, 9/11 Day aims to rekindle the unity and compassion that arose after the attacks, fostering a spirit of togetherness in a deeply polarized nation. #911day #nationalunity #serviceandremembrance
