Dealership service visits have surged over the past 5 years: According to a recent service study from Cox Automotive, the average revenue per dealership service visit is up *30%* since 2019. And it's not all inflation... Consumers are holding onto their cars longer than ever — and these older cars are more expensive to repair (and require more of it). The bottom line: Service has always been the bread and butter of franchised dealerships… But with cooling new car sales (yes, I know Toyota is an exception) and a spotty used car market, I’d expect dealerships to double-down on Service in the coming years. New Car Dealerships - are you seeing the same trend? I'm not exactly sure how many new car dealerships are tracking this - but CarPal's % of current customers choosing (paying between Rs 16,000 - Rs 2,00,000) their registration numbers is now at 60%. Jumping almost 4x from around the same time last year and adjusted for volumes. We observed this initially and thought this could mostly be due to a sudden increase in #Toyota sales (most Toyota customers choose special numbers as per our understanding), but this seems to be across the board and irrespective of brands. 2 reasons I could think of about why this might be happening: - Customers likely going all-out for a purchase that they are going to keep for a longer than average duration. - Increased emotional sensitivity around big ticket investments What are your thoughts?
