Hello everyone,
Over the past year, our VFX industry has faced some significant challenges, including strikes and evolving demands. As someone with over a decade of experience, I want to share a bit of insight for those who are newer to the field or just starting their journey.
My own career path has been a journey of continuous learning and adaptation. I began as a Roto artist, transitioned to a Paint artist, and then moved into compositing. Each of these roles provided me with unique skills and a deeper understanding of the VFX process. This evolution was crucial in shaping my expertise and career growth.
For those of you who are earlier in your careers or considering different roles, I encourage you to embrace a mindset of continuous learning. Don’t hesitate to explore various facets of VFX, as each experience can significantly enhance your skill set and open new opportunities. Your journey may involve stepping into different roles and acquiring new skills, and that’s perfectly okay. It’s about growing and adapting in a dynamic industry.
Feel free to share your thoughts or suggestions on how we can navigate these changes and support each other in our professional growth.
Stay curious, keep learning, and support each other as we navigate these changes together.
Best,
Goutam Nelikanti
