The value of student interns in Human Resources is immeasurable! ❤️ Our culture & engagement team partners with NBCC (New Brunswick Community College) Human Respurce program and UNB Saint John MBA Program every year in spring/summer. We intentionally set aside projects that we believe students can complete and benefit from which creates support to our team and great learning for the students. If you decide to have students, here are a few tips that works for us!! 1. Treat them like part of your team! 🙌 Add them to your teams chat, invite them to as many meetings as possible for them to gain exposure. 2. Create space in your calendar 📆 to meet with them and to get to know them at least once a week. (It’s a great way to source potential new hires!!) 3. Provide meaningful and honest feedback so they can grow through their experience. 4. Celebrate their achievement by attending their graduations!! 🎓 To my current students Mary Adeosun, MBA Candidate Abdul Aleem Akhtar Jingjing Lin thank you for all your hard work so far! We appreciate you. #studentinterns #preceptorship #humanresources #engagementmatters #healthcare #leadershipdevelopment

I enjoyed reading David Kozhuk’s post on “Is higher education in survival mode?” His insights into the collaboration between career services and enrollment teams are spot on. Well written David Kozhuk! Building on that, I believe schools have an incredible opportunity to go even deeper by focusing on how they tell their unique story. Each institution has something special to offer—its programs, its values, and its outcomes. Sharing this uniqueness is key to helping students and families see the value of choosing your school. Here are a few ways schools can amplify their story and connect meaningfully with their audience: 1. Highlight employer partnerships. Showcase the relationships your school has with industry leaders. Share stories about internships, co-op programs, or direct pipelines to meaningful careers that only your institution can provide. 2. Celebrate alumni success. Tell the stories of graduates who are making an impact in their fields. Be specific about how your programs and resources supported their journeys. 3. Involve current students. Let prospective students see themselves in your institution by featuring stories from current students who are thriving academically and preparing for their futures. 4. Focus on outcomes. Share clear data about job placement rates, starting salaries, and the types of careers your graduates pursue. Pair this with personal stories to make the numbers come alive. 5. Tell the story of your community. Highlight what makes your campus culture unique. Whether it’s a close-knit environment, access to cutting-edge resources, or a commitment to service, help prospective families envision what life at your institution looks like. Every institution has a story to tell, and by making it personal, clear, and outcomes-driven, you can inspire confidence in the value you provide. What’s your institution’s story? How are you working to make it stand out? Let’s continue the conversation!

Here's a shocking fact: Over half (52%) of recent graduates from four-year U.S. institutions are underemployed a year after they leave school? This leads to talent shortages and other issues for graduates. But how can colleges or other educational institutions help tackle this? To tackle the talent shortage, educational institutions need to become 'work experience' brokers, integrating more co-ops, internships, and real-world projects into their curricula. This shift is crucial for ensuring students gain the skills and confidence needed for their careers and help them in landing jobs within that first year of graduating. Programs at institutions like National University and Arizona State University are already leading the way. National University uses platforms to incorporate employer-created projects into courses, helping students gain real-world experience. Meanwhile, Arizona State University employs thousands of students annually in roles aligned with their studies, ensuring they earn while they learn valuable career skills. Building stronger pathways to work-based learning can restore confidence in higher education and better prepare students for the workforce. #EnvisionMoore offers tailored workforce development consulting to help educational institutions create these vital work-based learning opportunities. By partnering with us, your educational institution can better prepare students for the workforce, enhancing their career readiness and boosting your institution’s reputation. How can your institution better prepare students for the workforce? Contact Envision Moore today to learn how we can help! 𝐁𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐄𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐫: 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐅𝐢𝐞𝐥𝐝 "The Colleges Where Students Start Jobs Right Away" This weekend's Wall Street Journal included an article discussing how some colleges are offering robust internship opportunities and support systems to help students transition from the classroom to their careers. Students at Northeastern University, Drexel University, and Georgia Institute of Technology are taking advantage of co-ops and connections through the universities' employer networks to coordinate their education and employment opportunities. This approach resonates with my dissertation research, which explored the critical match between a young worker’s major and their eventual career path—and the potential wage gap associated with a mismatch. One student highlighted in the WSJ article notes his internship "helped me know what I wanted to do by letting me know what I don’t want to do.” And Northeastern data counts about a third of students that "change their majors after completing a co-op that didn't suit their interests." Along with serving as a bridge that allows students to apply their classroom knowledge in real-world settings, gain valuable experience, and make informed decisions about their future careers, internships provide important signals for future careers—managing a coffee shop as an undergrad, for example, gives context for those going into Business School and consulting. This connection between education and career is crucial, and it’s encouraging to see institutions taking steps to ensure their students are not only academically prepared but also career-ready. Investing in these opportunities pays off—not just for students, but for the industries they will eventually join. #CareerReady #Internships #HigherEd #EducationToCareer #ResearchInsights https://lnkd.in/er-hXWMY

"Ways Universities Can Build Stronger Industry Partnerships!" Academic institutions can't operate in a bubble. If we want to produce career-ready graduates, universities must actively engage with employers, industry leaders, and workforce professionals. When I served as the Employer Community Liaison, one of my key responsibilities was building strong, sustainable employer partnerships. I learned that businesses want to engage with students, but they need the right structure to do so effectively. Here are three strategies I’ve implemented successfully: 1. Create Employer Advisory Boards – I worked with businesses to co-develop curricula, offer guest lectures, and mentor students, ensuring academic programs aligned with real-world needs. 2. Launch Industry-Led Workshops – Employers often struggle to find entry-level hires with the right soft skills. I created professional development workshops covering leadership, adaptability, and workplace communication to bridge this gap. 3. Expand Co-op & Internship Programs – At Wilberforce University, I helped sustain and built new internship partnerships that helped students transition seamlessly from education to employment, benefiting both students and employers. When universities and businesses collaborate, everyone wins: students gain practical skills, employers find top talent, and institutions improve their job placement rates. “For more detailed information in regards to how to build stronger industry partnerships contact me.”
