Here's a crazy idea: why not search for sustainable business models from the onset and grow organically? Startups make a lot of mistakes until a sustainable business model is identified and iterated on. If you supercharge that process with low cost capital, it becomes extremely wasteful. Startups should have an organic sticker too.
The quest for sustainable and regenerative business practices has never been more critical 🍃. I've always believed that the excitement of VCs over climate change initiatives can be a double-edged sword, and the ultimate goal of a startup should be to evolve beyond its initial existence. But what concrete steps can startup founders take to genuinely integrate sustainability into their core operations, especially in the face of an impending climate crisis? I had the privilege of diving deep into this question and discovered an inspiring initiative by Amit Paul and Nils von Heijne. They've pioneered an alternative organizational structure known as Regenerative and Circular Operations (RCO), which is not just a theoretical concept but a practical approach aimed at embedding sustainability at the heart of business operations. 🔍 In my latest article on TechCrunch, I explore the intricacies of the RCO model, its foundational principles of regeneration and circularity, and how it aims to set a new benchmark for corporate responsibility and ecological stewardship.
