Exciting News!   We are thrilled to share that Climeworks' Orca project has achieved a groundbreaking BeZero Carbon Rating of AAA—the highest rating in the industry! This is not only a first for us but also the first time such a rating has ever been awarded to anyone, marking a significant milestone for the carbon removal industry and Climeworks as a leader in the field.   This prestigious rating from BeZero reflects the very high effectiveness of our projects in removing CO2 from the atmosphere. As a leading independent carbon ratings agency, BeZero’s assessment, supported by a robust team of climate scientists, geospatial experts, and analysts, reinforces the exceptional impact of our work. This achievement sets a new benchmark for the industry, highlights the transformative potential of direct air capture and carbon removal technologies.     A huge shoutout to our partners who have made this achievement possible: our storage partner, Carbfix, whose innovative solutions ensure secure and permanent storage of captured CO2, and Puro.earth, our certifier, whose rigorous standards and validation have been integral to this success.   With Orca's AAA rating, we're proud to lead the way in direct air capture and carbon removal, showcasing the future of climate action.   #Climeworks #CarbonRemoval #BeZero #Carbfix #PuroEarth #ClimateAction #Sustainability

How many tonnes of CO2 have you sequestered to date?

Pro: Every tonne of CO2 actively removed is important. Con: What emissions are generated in Scope 3 in production, resources, infrastructure, also in the medium term? When will these emissions be offset by operations? Today's absorbers filter around 50 % of the CO2 that passes through. Is improvement in sight? Are the high investments required too risky in view of falling prices for certificates? When and where will the first really large plants with at least 100,000 tons of CO2 go into operation and prove their efficiency in continuous operation? So far I have never received any answers from Climeworks & Co. about this, which I find at least strange and critical opinions on this from scientists are probably justified. Silence or reference to the corporate policy of the DAC industry is also a form of consent. Or can Climeworks make a professional and factual statement this time?
