Two things regarding tech and innovation in Northwest Ohio... #1... there are a LOT of people who have been let down by the systems and orgs put in place to support tech and innovation. #2... there are tons of great ideas out there just waiting to help define Toledo/NWO as a leader in the space. This is why I rail on every government/org post about photo ops and seeing the data from their initiatives. I'd name names, but we all know these government leaders and orgs are failing us and our future in Northwest Ohio. It's past time to cut the red tape, and align under a single vision of defining NWO as a place where cool people do cool things. There are two steps to make this happen: Establish a Director of Innovation and a Director of Communication. Two people whose sole purpose is to do cool things in NWO and tell the story. #valuesmatter I had the pleasure of kicking off the strategic planning process with the City of Franklin, Tennessee this week. While I often leverage technology in my work, sometimes nothing has quite the magic of the old-school, rearranging of post-it notes on a wall. It's because the conversation around the ideas is what is most important, the "what did you mean by this?" that provides opportunities to listen and understand. Establishing Values, along with Vision and Mission, are foundational in strategic planning because it helps you to focus and build. This is a post about Joe. I love my grandparents, but if you told me that they'd enjoy being surrounded by robots, I'd probably (politely) say "not a chance." Joe has proved me (and hundreds of other grandchildren) to be completely wrong. 👵🏼 👴🏼 I met Joe years ago while at OhmniLabs and we continued the discussions at SoftBank Robotics America. There's something so admirable about leaders that can innovate in industries that are stereotypically avoid and reject innovation. Joe was lightyears ahead of peers in identifying and scaling digital and robotic solutions in his senior living facilities to improve the quality of care, resident experience, and operational efficiency. Thanks for all you've done and continue to do for the emerging tech and health services industries, Joe.
