Can #stool transplant slow disease progression in #Parkinson's disease by influencing the #gut-#brain axis? In our just-published editorial in Journal of Parkinson's Disease, we discuss the recent commendable efforts by Ghent University Hospital's Arnout Bruggeman and colleagues to gather more evidence for this through their GUT-PARFECT study. We argue that, notwithstanding the reported symptomatic improvement, there is as of yet insufficient evidence to support a disease-modifying effect of this treatment. Bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) is a chronic lung disease affecting premature infants, characterized by impaired lung development and persistent functional issues. While the link between antenatal stress and BPD is known, the exact mechanisms remain elusive. Recent research by Dr. Elizabeth McGinn, Dr. Bradford Smith et al (2024) explores the concept of dysanapsis, the discordant growth of airways and lung tissue, as a potential contributor to late respiratory problems in infants exposed to antenatal stress.
