Recently, I was asked about one advice that I will give to young developers. My response - think simple, not easy. This led to some interesting conversation :) I couldn't recall at the time about this concept as it was in some tech talk decade back. Finally I was able to find it - Tech talk by Rich Hickey here https://lnkd.in/gFgys7ne I don't code much these days but I use this concept every single day whether it is business strategy, feature discovery, customer needs or tech architecture.

Let me tell you… the engineering space at big tech companies isn’t for the faint of heart. Your dedication and skills will be tested most with your patience and perseverance in dealing with re-orgs, internal politics, tech debt, management changes, scope changes, tooling issues/migrations. And when everything finally seems to be making sense is the exact moment everything will change. Understand these are discovery moments in how you can contribute more than just code. You have a historical catalog of what has and hasn’t worked. Use this information to drive home the vision of your product and make something truly valuable for your customers. #dataengineering #tech

Using Steve Jobs’ philosophy, we must start with patient experience and work backward to the technology. Our software engineers understand the pain encountered by people with lived experience before any code is written. Every feature discussion begins with the problem. What are the current challenges in the health and social care system and how will our technology help. What are the potential risks and what’s the opinion of our experts by experience as well as dedicated healthcare teams. It helps define purpose and value in our mission.
