Advarra's research underscores the imperative of addressing participant recruitment well before a trial's launch. It is equally our duty to design a scientifically robust trial as it is to optimize the participant experience. Streamlining the process, ensuring support staff are readily available for inquiries, and upholding utmost transparency are essential in shaping participants' perceptions of clinical trials. Furthermore, these perceptions have a ripple effect, influencing the views of their friends and loved ones. #patientrecruitment #patienteducation #slowbutsteady https://lnkd.in/gVk-y_sk

This is an interesting read, but I'm critical of the sample since it's not where we hope to be in terms of representation. I'm seeing the same issues that we're facing in recruitment: mostly white; mostly female. That said, this sample is more diverse than the most recent US Census, to which there were some questionable changes and I'm taking a shot in the dark and saying the administration wasn't particularly concerned with representation. There's still a lot of white space where we can engage people of color and men. And we need to stop letting the traditional barriers of approvals and increased cost stop us from targeting outreach to specific groups. There have to be ways that are cost-effective and won't impeded study timelines.
