International Clinical Trials Day is here!🔔 Today, we celebrate the groundbreaking work of James Lind, born on the 4th of October 1716, a Scottish physician and pioneer of naval hygiene in the Royal Navy who conducted the first controlled clinical trial and successfully found a cure for Scurvy. This discovery established the framework for modern clinical research, highlighting the critical role of clinical trials in advancing medical knowledge and improving patient care. Today, we at Clinique Research honour all researchers, healthcare professionals, and volunteers who consistently contribute to the progress of medical research without cessation. Happy International Clinical Trials Day and cheers to a better world!🥂 #ClinicalTrials #ClinicalTrialsDay #ClinicalResearch #WorldClinicalTrialsDay #Celebration #CliniqueResearch #MedicalResearch #Innovation #Researchers #Healthcare

I've long-thought BILT was perfect for medical training. My friend's brother, a resident, often checks YouTube the night before he does a surgery he hasn't done in awhile. Seems like a standardized set of 3D instructions would be a better refresher. Brings new meaning to the term "operational enablement"! #healthcare #training #operationalenablement #technology #innovation

On International Clinical Trials Day, let’s take a moment to reflect on a captivating tale from the annals of medical history. Imagine it is the year 1747. Aboard the HMS Salisbury, the air is thick with despair as scurvy ravages the crew. Enter James Lind, a visionary Scottish surgeon who believed that hope could be found through methodical inquiry and experimentation. With 12 ill sailors and a hunch, Lind embarked on what would become the first recorded clinical trial. He divided the sailors into pairs, treating each with different regimens. Amidst the various remedies, one stood out to be effective—citrus fruits. Those who received them recovered remarkably, a discovery that would change the course of naval history and save countless lives. Fast forward to today, and we at N-of-1 Hub carry Lind’s torch, as one of the pioneers of use of personalised clinical trials. Like Lind, we face skepticism and challenges, but we persist, driven by the belief that every body is different. As we celebrate International Clinical Trials Day, let’s honour the spirit of discovery and chart a course towards a healthier future for all. Join us at N-of-1 Hub as we set sail on this noble quest, one patient, one trial, one victory at a time - visit www.n-of-1hub.com. #ClinicalTrialsDay #Nof1Trials #HealthcareInnovation #JamesLind #MedicalHistory Dr Suzanne McDonald Associate Professor Jane Nikles

#DYK? Women are more directly involved in combat operations today than ever before, yet they continue to be underrepresented in military research. In a recent study, Traumatic Brain Injury Center of Excellence researchers from Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton, Naval Medical Center San Diego, and Walter Reed National Military Medical Center along with National Intrepid Center of Excellence (NICoE) researchers, looked at the effects of gender on mild #TBI symptoms and the role of post-traumatic stress disorder on symptom reporting. The National Institutes of Health, the Office of Naval Research, and the U.S. Army have temporarily halted all grants to the University of California at San Diego. The incident underscores the critical importance of compliance with reporting requirements. Federal agencies are increasingly stringent about delinquent reports, impacting not just individual projects but entire institutions. This situation at UC San Diego serves as a crucial reminder of the potential consequences of non-compliance and highlights the need for researchers and administrative staff to ensure all reporting obligations are met promptly. We all do our best, but hopefully having this information as something to send the more resistant customers we deal with may help to get some final reports done. Navy Medicine achieved a major milestone by conducting the first technical test of an Expeditionary Medical Unit (EMU) aboard the USNS Cody at Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek-Fort Story. This cutting-edge test verified the ship’s ability to support Role 2 medical capabilities, including advanced trauma care, emergency surgery, and resuscitative care. Expeditionary Medical Units represent the future of operational medicine, offering forward resuscitative care in challenging environments. With enhanced features like specialized equipment spaces, reinforced decks, and efficient patient movement systems, the Cody is set to become a critical asset for military and humanitarian missions, providing comprehensive medical support from sea to shore. Capt. Joseph Fitzpatrick, leading EMU-1, highlighted the importance of this capability, stating, "By focusing our attention on the expeditionary needs of the Navy warfighter and bringing comprehensive medical care forward to them, we are going to save lives!" This successful test is just one example of Navy Medicine's commitment to evolving and expanding its capabilities to meet the demands of the future fight. #NavyMedicine #MilitaryMedicine #HealthcareInnovation #Medicine #Doctor #Nurse #EmergencyMedicine
