Thank you to Sammy Roth for your great Los Angeles Times piece after talking with me and our other partners involved in the Los Angeles Cleantech Incubator (LACI)’s Clean Energy 2028 Roadmap. We released the county-wide focused Roadmap yesterday to accelerate reduction of GHGs by 15% by the time of the 2028 Olympics via bold targets including installing nearly 1.4 million heat pumps, a 165 MW Virtual Power Plant, 24 MW of battery-tied EV charging, nearly 12 GWh of rooftop solar, and a lot more (including meeting our existing Transportation Electrification Partnership’s related 2028 targets on EVs, ZE trucks, mode shift, etc). The work to implement our ambitious yet achievable Roadmap begins now. Doing so not only will show the world that LA—as the world’s 3rd largest metropolitan economy—can lead the way on climate. In fact, the future demands it. Big thanks to my co-chair in the Clean Energy Partnership David Hochschild & all our members including Mayor Karen Bass, County of Los Angeles, Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, Southern California Edison (SCE), Clean Power Alliance, California ISO, California Energy Commission, Sunrun, Wells Fargo, Swell Energy, & the many people and organizations that provided their input, ideas, and feedback. Hats off and huge gratitude to Mayte Sanchez, LACI’s Senior Director of Energy, who worked so hard over the last 18+ months in leading the partnership to do the modeling with the amazing sustainability and energy team at Accenture (led by Clinton Moloney), bring the partners together, and everything that made the Roadmap possible. Thanks as well to Michelle Kinman, Kylie Teller, Jillian Misrack, and all the incredible team Los Angeles Cleantech Incubator (LACI) that supported and helped make it all happen. There are many many more that are acknowledged in the Roadmap, but want to thank Ted Bardacke for being the first to help us with funding specifically for the Roadmap.

I'm excited to share the launch of our newest Coro program - the Climate Resilience Leadership Network (CRLN). Transformative change is needed to adequately address the scale and pace of climate change, and the transformation needed requires leadership at every level to help communities and individuals move towards the social, economic, and political shifts required to address our climate crisis. Driven by the urgent need to create and nurture sustainable, healthier and more resilient communities, CRLN, designed in collaboration with with Coro Southern California, Accelerate Resilience Los Angeles (ARLA) and the Regenesis Institute, will bring together regional cross-sectoral professionals working within and across the issues of living infrastructure practices and advocacy, climate change action, environmental justice, energy, community development, water solutions, land preservation, and other related fields to build a toolkit to disrupt systems and structures to foster a more climate resilient future for the Los Angeles region. Participants will expand their own leadership mindsets through uniquely-tailored seminars, case studies, community dialogue, and highly-collaborative experiential learning. We were honored to host the SDG Summit USA at Accenture’s NYC offices today with UN Global Compact Network USA and United Nations Global Compact. 🌍 Spent an enlightening day at the UNGC Private Sector Summit, hosted at our Accenture office. The deep dive into the “UNGC SDG Stocktake Report 2023” was both eye-opening and a call to action. A few key takeaways: 📈 The global hunger situation is intensifying, with 783 million people experiencing hunger in 2023. 🌾 The growing interest in regenerative agriculture is not just a trend but a necessity. It’s heartening to see the shift towards sustainable practices that prioritize our planet. ❤️ There’s a strong desire to support equitable systems, placing producers at the heart of the change. It’s about time we recognize and uplift those who feed the world. A massive shoutout to Emilia Hull and Michael Hughes for their invaluable insights and contributions throughout the summit. Special gratitude to Accenture Development Partnerships very own Anastasia Thatcher Marceau for driving the conversation and the passion for true impact and sustainable change. And a warm thank you to our sustainability leader, Vikrant Viniak who’s already making waves with his visionary approach to integrate sustainability across the business for a radical transformation of the sector.
