It is no secret to us that the compost industry needs financial support. This article dives deep on the current need for more composting facilities nationwide. Did you know that only 4% of food waste is getting composted in the United States? We are all working together to build the infrastructure to make composting more normal than landfilling our organics waste. It takes time, effort, and investment. #composting #industry #investing #greenjobs #infrastructure https://lnkd.in/dagvtqZR

At Culterra, we believe in the power of sustainability and efficiency, especially when it comes to our products. 🌱 That's why we adopt a zero-waste approach in processing our materials. If a particle misses its mark, we don't see it as waste but as an opportunity. 🙌 We carefully filter out the dust and give it a second chance in the mix. Then, we use sieves to perfect the prill sizes, making our products not only eco-friendly but also tailored to the specific needs of professionals in the industry. This approach underscores our commitment to both the planet and the quality our customers expect. 🌍 #CulterraHolland #SustainableAgriculture #Innovation #BioStimulant #FarmingSolutions #Efficiency #Professional #ZeroWaste #Product #Filtering

Our compost plays a crucial role in our growing process. We take what other agricultural sectors might consider waste – straw, stable bedding, spent grain – and input into our substrate process. Mushrooms are nature's recyclers! We have compost facilities that service each farm, allowing recipe customization for better mushroom production. Our nitrogen-rich spent mushroom substrate (SMS) is shared with the community as soil amendment at the end of production. 🌎 🍃 Day 4 of 30 : Let's Talk Compost!! Turning Compost and Turning a Profit ... So I feel like "green jobs" I.e. environmentalists, sustainability experts and let's be honest -hobbyists are often feeling they have spent more then they could ever make on their craft. Money is not the objective for such a passionate group but I thought it was an interesting point. I started googling about this topic and found Marty on YouTube. Marty is like the crocodile hunter of composting!! He started small and found a way to bag compost for his neighbors. This micro business is something that could be scaled for many individuals. Marty has taken his own interest in gardening, started some worm farms and gotten quite a decent sized compost pile going next to his house. Not all HOAs would approve but it looks like Marty has a nice side hustle going selling bags of compost and learning as he goes. 🍃What side hustles or small businesses do you see succeeding in making a profit in this industry? 🍃 #makecompostmainstream #compost #composting #circularity #smallbusiness #martygardens #worldcentric #greenjobs #environmentalists Tune in here! https://lnkd.in/g8Vqm-9a

With compostable packaging growing in popularity, ensuring these materials break down effectively in real-world settings is more important than ever. Through their Composting Consortium, Closed Loop Partners’ Center for the Circular Economy has taken a leading role in advancing this effort. Collaborating with compost facilities across the U.S., they conducted an in-depth study on the disintegration of compostable packaging. The results offer invaluable insights for both packaging producers and composters, paving the way for better practices and enhanced industry standards. At RRS, we were proud to work closely with Closed Loop Partners’ Center for the Circular Economy to design and execute the field tests, navigating the complexities of varying composting technologies and facility conditions. The findings revealed important trends and recommendations, helping to shape the future of compostable packaging. For those curious about the detailed findings and practical recommendations, read more in the official reports here: 🌱 Compostable Packaging Disintegration at Composting Facilities (https://lnkd.in/gu-6wA7i) 🌱 Contamination at Composting Facilities (https://lnkd.in/eFbggfXJ) #Compostable #Compost #CompostablePackaging #Innovation #Improvement
What is the #CompostingConsortium’s impact to date, and how can composters and municipalities get involved? Building on the last 3 years of work to advance the circularity of food scraps and food-contact compostable packaging, the Consortium launched two new platforms to engage directly with U.S. municipalities and composters to support the scale-up of composting infrastructure. > The Composting Consortium’s Composter Innovator Program: The free-to-access program brings U.S. composters together to make consolidated industry recommendations to policymakers, regulatory agencies, compostable packaging manufacturers and brands. All full-scale U.S. composters are invited to register interest here: https://hubs.ly/Q02S458-0 > The Composting Consortium’s Municipal Partner Platform: The free-to-access platform connects city and county officials with leaders nationwide to explore opportunities and challenges in starting and expanding organics collection and infrastructure programs. U.S. municipalities of all sizes and stages of development are encouraged to reach out: https://hubs.ly/Q02S3YF20 Thank you to our partners at Happy Trash Can Curbside Compost, Compostable Field Testing Program, Eastman, Biodegradable Products Institute (BPI), The Foodbank, Inc., City of Boise, Black Earth Compost and more, for their participation in this video! #circulareconomy #compost #composting #innovation #partnership #compostablepackaging #packaging
