I help scale business infrastructure on AWS | Proficient in AWS Services, AI Tools, DevOps Tools, Linux, and Monitoring Solutions | Skilled in Python Scripting | Baseline SC cleared.
Let's chat about the AWS Well-Architected Framework (link to the AWS page in the comments). In a nutshell, this framework is built on six pillars: Operational Excellence: Automate everything you can! Security: Protect your data like it's the Crown Jewels. Reliability: Keep your systems running smoother than a well-oiled machine. Performance Efficiency: Speed is king - make your apps fly. Cost Optimisation: Get the most bang for your AWS buck. Sustainability: Green clouds are the future - optimise for the planet. Why does this matter? Well, in today's fast-paced digital world, building robust, secure, and efficient cloud architectures isn't just nice to have - it's essential. The Well-Architected Framework isn't just theory. It comes with practical tools like the AWS Well-Architected Tool, which helps you review your architectures against these best practices. Remember folks, it is essential to keep evaluating your systems for compliance. I've been through Well Architected Reviews and there are a lot of areas that can be optimised after assessment. As an AWS DevOps contractor via Digital Endeavours, I specialise in designing and implementing robust auto scaling solutions to ensure high availability and cost optimisation for your cloud infrastructure. If you're hiring, I'd like to talk about how I can help your business scale smoothly.

I posted about the #AWS Well-Architected Framework, I thought today's post would be more detail into one of the pillars - sustainability. Don't assume it is just a venture for eco-warriors to preserve the planet, it'll save $ on the bill too. Have you looked into the Customer Carbon Footprint Tool? (link in the comments) Maximise Utilisation Idle resources waste energy. Use auto-scaling, serverless architectures, and spot instances to match your resource use to actual demand. Right-Size for Efficiency. Bigger isn't always better. You can choose instance types that meet your needs without overprovisioning. Data Storage Data has a carbon cost too. Implement lifecycle policies, compress data where possible, and use storage classes wisely, see my previous posts on S3. Some AWS regions use more renewable energy than others. If latency allows, consider running workloads in these greener regions. Legacy apps can be energy hogs. Refactoring for cloud-native technologies often leads to more efficient resource use. Remember, sustainability isn't just about ticking boxes—it's about creating a culture of environmental responsibility in your cloud strategy. By embracing the Sustainability pillar, you're not just reducing your carbon footprint; you're often cutting costs and improving performance too. It's a win-win-win situation! So, next time you're architecting on AWS, think green. Your planet (and your wallet) will thank you! As an AWS DevOps contractor via Digital Endeavours, I specialise in designing and implementing robust auto scaling solutions to ensure high availability and cost optimisation for your cloud infrastructure. If you're hiring, I'd like to talk about how I can help your business scale smoothly.

🔐 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐥𝐨𝐮𝐝 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐀𝐖𝐒 𝐈𝐀𝐌 🔐 AWS IAM is the key to fortifying your cloud security. It's your guard at the gate, regulating who gets in and what they can do once they're inside. Let's see how it works and its real-world impact in the IT industry : 1. 𝐆𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐫 𝐀𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐥 : AWS IAM allows you to define who can access your AWS resources and what actions they can perform. 2. 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐎𝐩𝐬 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐦𝐬 : In a fast-paced DevOps environment, IAM helps in granting developers access to specific resources like EC2 instances, S3 buckets, or RDS databases. You can set precise permissions to ensure they can't accidentally disrupt production systems. 3. 𝐌𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐢-𝐓𝐞𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐀𝐩𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 : If you're running a multi-tenant SaaS application, IAM lets you separate customer data securely. It ensures that Customer A's data remains inaccessible to Customer B, maintaining data privacy and compliance. 4. 𝐓𝐞𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐀𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬 : Sometimes, you need to grant temporary access to external collaborators or contractors. IAM provides time-limited credentials, reducing the risk of unauthorized access once their work is done. 5. 𝐀𝐮𝐝𝐢𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 : With IAM, you can track and audit all actions taken within your AWS environment. This is invaluable for meeting compliance requirements and ensuring accountability. On Fridays, we build things... This week... Sandboxes! Look... companies and their engineers want a space to innovate and play with the shiny new things they find. Traditionally, that makes security folk a bit itchy. But we now live in a world where ephemeral cloud environments with intelligent guardrails can foster these wants while maintaining a low risk profile to the organization. Fact is... if you give your colleagues a safe, structured environment that allows them the freedom to test, they won't find insecure ways to do it in prod. Amazon Web Services (AWS) has a solution for you to start with (linked below). Jonathan Barney and I have a recorded talk from last year's ISC2 Security Congress for our own implementation. As you get better at building these sandboxes, you can start developing them for more purposeful use cases. I encourage you to get more comfortable with developing and deploying these environments and being functional with your risk. Build secure capabilities to support your engineers and developers. They'll thank you for it... and so will your stress. 🤣 It's a beautiful day to build beautiful things. https://lnkd.in/eqQhatXh #cloudsecurity #security #devsecops #cloud #aws Noah G.
