Last week, the Cloudmuscle team enjoyed a culinary outing at Ashoka – Indian fine dining, organized by our colleague Mithilesh Dubey. 🍽️ Despite our busy schedules, a small group of 5 of us gathered to enjoy the delicious food and pleasant ambiance. On an Easter Saturday, amid tourist activities, our long day of exploration ended with a pressing hunger. As per our foodie tradition, we embarked on a restaurant hunt at 18h, assessing menus to find a feast. However, we were turned away from multiple restaurants due to the overwhelming crowd of the Easter holiday weekend. Running out of options and settling on the idea of using our emergency protein bars, we noticed one more bustling restaurant. Although expecting the same response, we tried our luck. The owner, instead of dismissing us right away, consulted with his team. Returning, he offered us a table with a condition - we had to leave by 20h due to a subsequent reservation, which was perfect for us as we had a train to catch at 19h30. This experience illustrated the difference between problem-focused thinking and opportunity-focused thinking. The latter, demonstrated by the last restaurant, is the essence of successful collaboration. By viewing challenges as opportunities for creative solutions, and engaging in open communication and understanding, successful collaboration, much like our unexpected dining experience, can lead to mutually beneficial outcomes. Ultimately, the gap between a problem and an opportunity is often just a shift in perspective. Opportunities are waiting for those who embrace it.
