Friday was my last day working at Oriam, Scotland's Sports Performance Centre, and Watt a time it’s been (sorry couldn’t be help myself). I started off in a bookings and communication assistant role under Nicole Gilmour. I was trained on Oriam’s booking system and given the responsibility of managing the facilities hire agreements (HA) including: ·       Maintaining good client relationships ·       Issuing and negotiating HA contracts On the communications side my main responsibility was the social media, under the guidance of marketing manager Greig Anderson. I had a few ideas about how this could be improved which I implemented overtime as my confidence In the role increased. Here I continued my development of ·       Video editing ·       Content planning and scheduling   As well as learning completely new skills such as ·       Directing content capture ·       Recording and running interviews In October I was fortunate enough to be offered a transition away from the bookings side of the job to a marketing and communications focused role. I was very grateful for the flexibility and forethought of Admin Services section head Kerry Furlong to move me towards an are I felt I could add more to. Therefore, for the last 3 months I’ve been focused on the marketing and communications side, mainly working on the launch of Oriam Indoor Tennis Centre (if you’re from Edinburgh go have a game!) as well as keeping up the social media content across Oriam channels. The social media transformation is my personal highlight of my work at Oriam. From January 2023 to December 2023, we increased monthly impressions by 465% along with significant improvements in post frequency and engagement and post interactions.  I believe I’ve set it on a positive trajectory and passed on the relevant tools and approach to content creation that will allow Oriam’s online presence to continue to grow and go way beyond where it is now. Prior to leaving the business and I had a very insightful exit interview with Oriam Executive Director Ross Campbell. After sharing and receiving some open and honest feedback (that I will take with me into my next job), we had a productive discussion about career progression and how that can look. This has given me confidence that my next steps focused on learning new skills in different environments and pushing myself out of my comfort zone, are in fact the right ones. My last month at Oriam was incredible. I managed to fit a few games of tennis in and spend time with my colleagues while preparing for my departure. I definitely had a heightened awareness of how much I enjoyed coming into work because of the people I work with, it really does make all the difference! I’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone at Oriam who has helped me, made me laugh, taught me things and most of all didn’t hate me for chasing them around the building with a camera. Beginning of the year I was given an opportunity to expand my role and take over International clients as Key account manager online. Taking over this new role automatically led to dealing with complete new field of responsibilities. And now being in the full point of sales, just want to to name a few: 〽️ active participation in sales meetings 〽️ being responsible for different divisions 〽️ order preparation and data analysis 〽️ building up new customer relationships through travelling and getting to know the clients 〽️ optimization of online channels and trend tracking and identification 〽️ and in the end, active selling our amazing collections…well that´s what you just have to do as sales manager Thanks to Marc O'Polo SE for this opportunity. It is complex and not that easy to make these first steps. But I am very happy for my colleagues that inspired me and guided me, especially for mentorship from experienced managers Niklas Heidemann and Massimo Francese. The last 4 years of my career in a nutshell… 2020 - COVID - Furloughed for 3 months Q3 2020 -> Q1 2021 - unfurloughed - returned as Technical Director / Head of Production at NeueHouse 2021-> 2022 - AGM NeueHouse (acting General Manager until August) 2022 -> 2023 GM of Fotografiska 2023 -> 2024 VP of Operations / Fractional COO role - opening two Experiential Attractions in two landmark buildings 2024 -> Business Development Consulting and…… (Noting the 2020-2023 roles were part of a 7 year tenure with the same company.) _____ I’ve achieved a lot in a VERY short amount of time. Yes, I’ve made mistakes but I’ve also celebrated big wins. I’ve grown tremendously, and learned the ins and outs of very complex business models; well enough to open two experiential attractions in one calendar year. I helped lead two businesses out of Covid beginning with a skeleton crew, extraordinary effort and focus. Of course I’m still learning, but the many years of listening, working hard and showing up paid off. Someone took a risk on me, and I’m grateful. Success doesn’t happen over night. Work hard. Learn something new every day. Remember the people that have elevated you, as well as the ones that propped you up along the way. Return the favor. Maintain good and authentic relationships. Be genuine. Be unabashedly you. And when the opportunity comes, be ready to commit. And if you don’t get a call back, or get passed up on a promotion, that’s okay too.
