Mixed emotions on the PJ Washington addition for Dallas, but they certainly improve. He'll be a full-time PF -- where's he's been a league-average defender (51.7 opponent eFG% outside the paint, 44th percentile) over the past 3 seasons. He has the strength to pick up some tough assignments. The platoon of Gafford and Lively at the 5 is 48-minutes of lob threats, quality rebounding, and solid paint protection behind PJ, which is exciting and cheap for coming campaigns. Parting with a 2027 first (top-2 protected) is Dallas firing one of their only bullets at this time...I like this team construct but it's a huge gamble with DEN/LAC looming. Mavs might've rushed this. Haunting in the context of PJ being the last RFA available six months ago too...and now a 1st is coughed up for him. This could be a compounding series of mistakes that adds up to be a failure: Parting with draft capital to acquire Grant Williams, sending more out alongside trading him, and — counting the Gafford deal — only adding 2 rotation players for 2 firsts at the deadline.

These are solid prospects.

It's hard to wrap your head around how bad the odds are of winning the lottery. Our brains just aren't suited for that kind of massive scale. Then out of THOSE people, exactly ONE is chosen to be the winner. 1 out of 11,239, the other 11,238 go home losers. That's a 0.009% chance of winning after buying 26,000 tickets over 50 years. It won't be you.‎ ‎ But on the flip side, INVEST that ticket money over the same period of time, it's basically a guaranteed jackpot. Over the last 50 years, the S&P 500 has returned over 10% per year on average. What's the most common misconception about CTV? The most common misconception I hear is that it does not drive lower funnel results. If marketers believed it did, every performance marketer would have CTV in their media mix alongside Google and Meta. But they don't....yet. The increased adoption of CTV and the prevalence of inventory (even premium inventory) sold programmatically allow brands to test CTV without massive budgets.
