On May 31, 2024, CMAA hosted the first Seniors in Action meeting with 8 elderly adults from the Cambodian community. Kowith Kret, a member of the GLHA Community Outreach Team, led and interpreted the meeting. The Seniors in Action initiative is a powerful platform that empowers older Cambodian residents to champion the well-being of our peers. Through collaborative action, we enhance access to resources, promote social inclusion, and prioritize the health, dignity, and quality of life of older adults.

It was great to be present at this morning's Launch of the Uniting Families report. As a member of the external advisory group, I've had a window into the rigour of the process. One thought from today was that there is a default data set in much research into families due to looking at households, which leaves out many important versions of care for children, such as kinship, shared households, etc. The Uniting Families Report is a new partnership between @unitingnsw.act and @UNSW Social Policy Research Centre, providing annual insights into the experiences of families raising children and young people in Australia. Better research and understanding of families will inform understanding and drive better policy reform. This report is a first step towards challenging the notion that all family experiences are the same and can be explored here: https://lnkd.in/giv-aFen I look forward to an ongoing involvement in this long-term 10-year project.

On this 🌏 #DayofFamilies, we call for investments in social and #childprotection systems that strengthen families and their ability to care for their children. 'We must all do our part. The partnership of governments, civil society organizations, and individuals is a driver to create a world where every child grows up in a nurturing family environment, ensuring their rights are safeguarded, and their futures are filled with promise and opportunity,' says Dr. Dereje Wordofa, President of SOS Children's Villages International. At Show Hope, we believe that the best way to serve children who are vulnerable is by working proactively to ensure the best possible outcome following the P.R.A.Y. acronym. P ➡️ Preservation R ➡️ Reunification A ➡️ Adoption Y ➡️ Youth Support This week on the blog, we unpack this acronym and share why it is the ideal response to caring for children who are vulnerable. Too often, the evidence we collect about families to use in policy and service development focuses on one or two types of family. "Expert Technical Feminist Batwoman" currently serving as Global Lead for Protection Policy and Advocacy at International Rescue Committee
In November, governments have an opportunity to make catalytic pledges to make all childhoods safe everywhere - in communities, households, schools, and online. IRC is asking governments to capitalize on that opportunity, to include children living in conflict, crisis, and displacement, and to recognize that caregivers need support if they are to support children and keep them safe.
