📢 𝐧𝐞𝐰 𝐣𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐥𝐞: 𝐆𝐚𝐩𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐩𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐜 𝐬𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐠 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐀𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐚 🔗 Get access here: https://lnkd.in/dB2Jcn2E #Austria has been classified as ‘preliminary’ in terms of policies for young carers. Against this backdrop, the authors Mirjam Pot, Selma Kadi (European Centre) and Heidemarie Staflinger (Arbeiterkammer Oberösterreich) ask how young carers experience their situation, to what extent existing support measures meet their needs and what gaps remain. The authors demonstrate that the few measures addressing young carers specifically have mainly focused on providing information and counselling. In contrast, young carers underline the need for recognition of the diverse forms and particularities of young caring across various institutions and fields of practice and the implementation of policies that address the long-term implications and social risks associated with young caring. #care #carework #youngcarers #journalarticle #socialresearch

As I step back into my role at North Lanarkshire Carers Together during this critical period leading up to a new contract, I’m reflective and forward-looking. The work we have ahead of us is complex but vital, and I am filled with gratitude for the incredible team and partnerships that make our mission possible. One of the highlights of our work is the Carer Breather initiative. With first-time custodian funding, we will empower 3rd sector organisations across North Lanarkshire to provide much-needed short breaks for carers. These moments of respite are transformative, offering carers the opportunity to recharge and maintain their own well-being while continuing their invaluable role. This initiative underscores our commitment to innovation and collaboration in supporting carers. Another cornerstone of our strategy is the development of the Carer Information Hub & Spoke model in partnership with organisations throughout the authority. By creating a network of accessible information points utilising NLC new Community Hubs, we are making it easier for carers to connect with essential services and support. This model ensures that carers, regardless of where they are in North Lanarkshire, can find the guidance and resources they need. The Neurodevelopmental Family Support Service is another key area of focus. As we work to refine its operational model, we are responding to the immense demand for this service. Our aim is to enhance its capacity and efficiency, ensuring that families receive the support they need in a timely and effective manner. By tweaking this model, we are striving to strike a balance between managing demand and maintaining the high quality of support that families have come to expect from us. Central to all of these efforts is the development and support of our exceptional staff team. They are the heart of our organisation, and their dedication drives our success. By embedding Trauma-Informed Practice into our model of support, we are fostering an organisational culture that prioritises understanding, empathy, and resilience. Together with our partners, staff, and the wider community, I’m confident that we will continue to make a meaningful difference in the lives of carers and those they care for across North Lanarkshire.

#IDCS2024 UN International Day of Care and Support. Let's talk about supporting family caregivers when the person they care for is in the hospital! Why? 1. Family caregivers know the patient best and can provide information about the patient and assist with care. 2. Family Caregivers Provide Medical/ Nursing Care after Discharge 3. Gaps in Family Caregiver Preparation Affect Multiple Stakeholders --At home, lack of family caregiver preparation can lead to complications and hospital readmission --when a complication becomes a medical emergency. It can even trigger a cascade to dependency and nursing home placement. --For hospitals, lack of family caregiver preparation can lead to discharge delays, costly post-discharge emergency department visits, and readmissions— affecting hospital processes, workflows, and financial health. Integrating family caregiver support into hospital care typically requires a paradigm shift for front-line staff from simply documenting emergency contact information and providing discharge paperwork to consistently identifying, preparing, and instructing the person who will provide care at home after discharge. In the US, the Caregiver Advise, Record, Enable (CARE) Act is now law in more than 40 states and territories. It mandates a partnership with family caregivers. Hospital staff need to ask the patient if they have a caregiver, record the caregiver's name on the chart, advise the caregiver of transitions and discharges, and ensure the caregiver is prepared to care on discharge. Tomorrow is the UN International Day of Care and Support #IDCS2024. At the International Foundation for Integrated Care (IFIC), we have always acknowledged that central role that carers, specifically informal and family carers, play in care integration. Without carers, for many people #coordination of care simply does not happen. During our International Conference on Integrated Care 2023 #ICIC23 in Belfast this year, our Director of Communications Fiona Lyne chaired a panel discussion with Pat Grogan from Family Carers Ireland, Richard Meade from Carers Scotland, Sharon Anderson who is a Canadian researcher leading a program on care-giver centred care, and Guilia Lanfredi from Eurocarers. The discussion highlighted the carers experience of poor, indeed absent, involvement in care planning by the formal care sector specifically healthcare and the impact this has on carers and people they are caring for world-wide. On the International Day of Care and Support, the International Foundation for Integrated Care (IFIC) would like to spotlight the essential role of the informal, and usually unpaid, carer in #coordination and #continuity of care. They are the invisible thread that holds care together. As Sharon Anderson pointed out in Belfast, family carers are expected to be on call 24/7. Watch her video if you have time for nothing else from 44:30...... Time for us all to work to make this visible and valued by making sure carers are in ALL care conversations. https://lnkd.in/exws2wTm

Hello, Greetings to All Readers. Kindly find Below Link to an Article on “RELEVANCE OF THE ONE CONSTITUENCY, ONE AMBULANCE PROGRAMME TO GHANA’S EMERGENCY HEALTHCARE SYSTEM,” which was Published in the Business and Financial Times (B&FT); and on Ghanatalksbusiness.com in EARLY MARCH 2020 to Describe the Evolution of Ghana’s National Ambulance Service; Its Contribution to the Establishment of Efficient Emergency Healthcare Delivery System in the Country; Introduction of a Bill on National Ambulance Service to Parliament for Passage into Law; and the Competitiveness of Ghana’s National Ambulance Service at the Continental Level, in spite of inherent challenges, including Limited Number of Ambulances to effectively meet the Universal Standard Ratio of 25.000 People to an (1) Ambulance, amongst others. Immediately after Publication of the Attached in the Business and Financial Times; and on Ghanatalksbusiness.com in EARLY MARCH 2020, Top Non-Government Official of Ghana’s Current Ruling Party (2017 to 2024) Requested for Copy of the Original Write-Up (Text) to be sent to Him. In Fulfilment of His Request, Copy of the Original Write-Up on “RELEVANCE OF THE ONE CONSTITUENCY, ONE AMBULANCE PROGRAMME TO GHANA’S EMERGENCY HEALTHCARE SYSTEM” was sent to the Top Non-Government Official of Ghana’s Current Ruling Party (that is, from 2017 to 2024). And that was the end. Below is an Interesting Quote Received from Someone: “It Is Highly NOT Advisable to Flock With People Who Subtly and Overtly Sabotage Others; While Rigorously and Viciously Promoting Their Personal Interests; the Interests of Their Children, Relatives and Cronies.” Thank you. To mark #CarersRightsDay today, we’ve launched a new briefing showcasing how a joined-up approach to supporting young carers can help make a difference to their lives and their families. ‘Embedding ‘No Wrong Doors for Young Carers’’ explains how Leeds City Council, Family Action and Leeds Community Healthcare NHS Trust have used our ‘No Wrong Doors for Young Carers' memorandum of understanding (MoU) to reduce waiting times for assessments, increase in staff awareness, increase the number of young carers being identified and provide earlier interventions. The MoU, which we designed in partnership with Carers Trust, aims to help embed a whole-system approach to identifying and supporting young carers, young adult carers and their families, and improve joint working between adult and children's social care services, integrated care boards and other key partners. Read more about this remarkable journey: https://lnkd.in/eNwYKhKT Watch Local Government Association Chair, Cllr Louise Gittins, explain the importance of supporting young carers. #YoungCarers #CarersRights #Carers #SocialCare
