A large South African contingent attended the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting under the theme Collaboration for the Intelligent Age, in Davos, Switzerland, last week. A priority for South Africa was to create greater international awareness around its hosting of the G20 in the country, with President Cyril Ramaphosa stating in his official address: “We will seek to get the G20 to focus more on how we can enhance solidarity through collective efforts to ensure that in the pursuit of progress in the world and progress for all: no person and no country should be left behind.” Standard Bank Group

It's always unfortunately to see conversations about the future of SA but young people are outside the rooms in which these conversations are held. We have witness a great number of brain drainage in the corporate world, where young people who are talented leave the country to pursue opportunities outside due to the limitation of opportunities in the country. We have young people working in influential spaces in other countries and this is a loss for the country.
What is the mandate from the private sector and public sector when it comes to helping young people tap into sectors such as AI, technology and sustainable financing. South Africa is blessed with a young population however there seems to be a gap between economic opportunities and skill set and this limits how many young people are able to economically participate in building this growing economy?
