"I think this is a positive for tech and the reason that the markets are responding the way that they are is because of the uncertainty around it and what it means" - Patrick Moorhead from Moor Insights & Strategy on DeepSeek's impact.

We recently hosted Matt Rosoff, Global Managing Editor at TechCrunch to learn more about the stories he and his team are chasing 🔥 Here are some takeaways: 1. Funding news helps, but it’s not everything. It can open the door, but funding does not guarantee coverage. TC reporters are curious about who’s behind the company and why it matters today — as well as the dollar amount. 2. Interesting founders are key. They want access to founders who can talk about more than their own company, and when they do talk about their own company, reporters want anecdotes and specificity. Founders can also provide fodder for personality-driven trend stories. 3. The publication is doubling down on its other channels. TC Found joins its flagship Equity podcast to talk with early-stage startup founders. Its YouTube video series, TechCrunch Minute, features minute-long news headlines that dive into topics like robotic wheelchairs and AI pins. Want to read more? My takeaways from CREtech: The industry is clearly in a tough spot. The challenges are evident, but meaningful solutions are lagging behind. I'm seeing a lot of companies willing to “talk the talk,” but when it comes to delivering tangible results, the gap is still wide. Even regulations like LL97 aren’t creating the momentum we’d hoped for. However, for areas with fragmented or poor-quality data—like the space I work in—it’s still more hype than impact. Real, meaningful applications are likely 3-5 years out as we grapple with cleaning and structuring the data before AI can deliver significant outcomes. I was surprised not to hear more conversations addressing this foundational issue. That said, I have to give credit to CREtech for curating discussions around real-life projects rather than the usual pay-to-play pitches that add little value. It’s always inspiring to dive into the real issues and share ideas with leaders who are equally passionate about moving the needle in CRE. There’s still room for disruption in how we approach industry events but for now, kudos to everyone involved for making this one impactful. Great work by Michael Beckerman and team on putting together a standout event. Let’s keep pushing for meaningful change!

Hi guys, I am BACK! I am excited for the month ahead and the incredible meetings to come. One of which I am particularly enthusiastic about : co-presenting with the brilliant Andrea Sasso a workshop for the cohort of Techstars Sustainability Paris under the flying colors of MD Raphaele Leyendecker Fabbri I'd like to tell you we worked hours on this, but when great minds think alike, it is extraordinary to see how fast the content was created and how excited (and giggling) we were about each slide. Who knew a slide could make me giggle without memes or GIFs? Without any spoiler on content, here is where sales & finance combine at their greatest to build strong, sustainable companies and revenue, considering the negative impact of : 💩 churn 👩🏭 price per unit 💵 price based on cost + margin 💶 disregarding the cost of sales in complex selling
