🔍Discover our secrets… 🕵️♂️ Discover the secrets of Retech specialists; meet Jacob Carr, Field Service Engineer/ Remote in Buffalo, USA. 📅 Length of employment in the company: 2.5 years. 🎯 The aim of my work is: Some of my roles and responsibilities are troubleshooting, installation, and upgrading/servicing company technology on customer sites. I also interface with the customer and contractors to understand their needs and ensure they are met. 💼My biggest professional challenge so far is: My biggest professional challenge so far is completing an entire installation of a furnace from start to finish; it is also sometimes called a “site build.” This was challenging because I was juggling working with many contractors and any issues that arose, as well as flash changes that needed to be made on the fly. It was very rewarding to see the furnace run after the entire process. 🧠The biggest lesson I’ve learned from my job: The biggest lesson I learned from my time working at #Retech is that there is always a way to move things forward. Whether it is a tool, a control, a part, or a method that can be implemented, there is always an answer, and we just have to find it to move forward. 🔧In my opinion, to find oneself in this role, one should be/need to like…: To be in this role, you have to enjoy traveling. You also need to appreciate improvisation and working with what is presently available to you. This position requires being on the road quite a bit, and there are many exciting things to see. That being said, while on the road, resources available to us are limited. #WorkLike #TogetherWeGainAdvantages

What's wrong with this picture? Absolutely nothing! Well, not in this case. As it turns out, this site was only temporary. However, if you were to come across a wooden base at a permanent site, you might be looking at some problems down the road. And missing batteries? That could certainly be an issue, or perhaps they just hadn't been installed yet. Maybe EXFO is not your personal favorite piece of fiber test equipment, but it's what we had, and it works great. I also want to give a shoutout to the field technician I was with for being resourceful and bringing a table and chair to create a more proper workspace. It's the little things that can make a big difference. #Operations #FieldTechnician #Resourcefulness
