We are kicking off our 2024 Summer Intern program with Evan, a current John Jay High School Science and Engineering Academy Junior. In collaboration with the ACE Program of Greater San Antonio, Evan spent the last two weeks shadowing our team of engineers and designers as a Summer Intern, experiencing the MEP design process in a real hands-on learning process. #summerintern #AceMentor #mepdesign #mepengineers

I recently completed a project where I built a linear regression model to predict house prices based on square footage, the number of bedrooms, and bathrooms. This project involved data cleaning, feature engineering, and model training to create an accurate predictor of property values. #prodigyinfotech #Linearregression #Machinelearninginternship

Today marks the last day for many of our summer interns - the largest group in the firm's history. After thanking them for their help on a wide variety of projects, we asked them to share some takeaways from the past couple months: "I think the most important thing I have learned this summer is, nothing will ever be more informative and clarifying than being out in the field on the site... Many of the sites I went to I was also assigned to complete the plan renderings for, and seeing the space in real life always cleared up every question I had about the drawings. Seeing a 2D drawing or even a 3D computer model still fails to match seeing and experiencing the same space in person." "I think my most significant takeaway from this Summer has been how important it is to be in an amicable, social, and uplifting environment... Everyone has been so welcoming and kind and attentive to my needs." "Creating successful design solutions requires perspectives from a variety of disciplines, and VMA provided me with the opportunity to learn from many of these interactions over the past three months. On-site surveys, design documentation, construction site visits, consultant communication, and client meetings were just a few of the instances where I saw collaboration in action."

Ohemaa Pipim joined us this summer from the Commercial Real Estate Success Training (CREST) Internship program, which is designed to introduce people of color and women, both of whom are typically underrepresented, to the commercial real estate industry. Ohemaa, you were an absolute delight to work with! We can't wait to see what you accomplish in the future. On Ohemaa's last week here, we sat down to chat about her experience: What was your favorite part of interning with MP? There were so many great and new experiences I had as an intern. One of my favorite parts of interning with MP was going on-site to perform existing conditions for a warehouse and then helping to model it in Revit. What is the most impactful thing you learned about architecture and design? The most impactful thing I learned about architecture and design at MP is the importance of looking ahead to new trends, policies, and regulations that can affect the way we approach design. What are your future plans after graduating? Graduate school is definitely up next, but I also plan to visit family and sightsee in Europe next summer. What made you want to start learning about A/E/C? Early in my childhood, through personal experiences, I began to recognize and value the importance of being in spaces that are not only affordable but functional and aesthetic. How did you get involved with the CREST program? During my sophomore year at Brandeis, I met a CREST alum who highly recommended the program to me. What has been your biggest takeaway since joining the CREST program? My biggest takeaway is how many different possibilities there are in the CRE industry. Additionally, programs like CREST are pivotal for helping students build networks and start their careers, especially for students of color who may not have gotten these opportunities otherwise.
