I watched the women’s rugby. Both the US & Canadian teams were a bit of a surprise but they were great games & the victories well earned. Hey guys, the age of equality is here, get on board or get left behind. The great thing about the Olympics is you get to watch all kinds of sports you wouldn’t normally see. I watched the women’s C1 whitewater competition & those ladies know how to paddle. Keep it up ladies the competitions great to watch.

The 2024 Women's Six Nations tournament starts this weekend.
But what are the physical demands of the women's international rugby union? There is limited literature available.
Below is a study on volume, speed, and intensity, including positional differences. Surprisingly, in terms of high speed running distance, the Back 3, the Centres, and the Second Row, are all very similar.
There's some great benchmarking data here for any women's rugby player.

A Lions Tour. Great news for women's rugby - let's hope they forge their own identity. A carbon copy of the men's Lions tours would not be good for the women's Lions tour.
I wrote this article about the possibility of a women's Lions in 2019 (among other things). I still think my opinion stands:
"As the game grows – and there is now talk of a women’s Lions tour (Lionesses?), I hope they do not feel obliged to follow the men’s format to South Africa and Australia, where women’s rugby is not so strong. They can create something new – why not a rotation between France, Canada and New Zealand? There’s no reason to copy what’s been done just because the men do it. It’s a chance to forge an identity."
The more I think about it, the more epic a Lions tour in France would be. Imagine the travelling support from the UK!
Is this acceptable behaviour from a king?
In the professional space, it is often expected that people behave very formal, and I personally always 'read the room' when I decide how much or how little enthusiasm it is allowed to show.
1️⃣
It is easy to get it wrong: I was in a board meeting once, giving a technical presentation about a topic I am an expert in, and it was a late afternoon after lunch. To keep people awake, and make sure they understood how serious this was, I 'turned up the enthusiasm-button' a little bit.
The feedback I got afterwards was that it was too much. I was not taken serious.
2️⃣
A few months later, I gave a similar but now extended and quite heavy presentation to a board of directors and management team, and decided to do the exact same thing. This was a meeting after work hours, and a heavy technical and political topic for non-geoscientists.
The feedback I got was overwhelmingly positive: they were so switched on, the insights provided were exactly what they needed, and the company has later executed on the recommendations given.
My take on the informal behavior by the king in this video: It made me smile, and I thought "Good for you!". Yes, perhaps it is informal behavior, but isn't it nice to see that the king is human? Doesn't it build trust for you? If not, then it is probably because of cultural differences, and worth taking into consideration. But to me his behavior builds trust: he is "a little more human, and a little less machine".
And as Nicolai Tangen put it in his talk at ONS two years ago:
"The more they know you, the more they trust you"
What do you think?
Just show me a place on earth where the King, the Crown Prince, the Prime Minister, the Minister of Foreign Affairs... casually are all just waiting in line to give these Danish handball champions a hug...
