It's been more than 150 years since the abolishment of slavery, yet just 10 years ago, the last reported enslaved African American, Mae Louise Walls Miller, passed away. Slavery is not distant history -- it's a recent reality with generational impact. Celebrate #Juneteenth today but remember, our work is far from over. We need intentional interventions to not only level the playing field, but also address discriminatory systems, policies, and practices in the workplace. Did you know June is Gypsy Roma and Traveller History Month? Gypsy Roma and Traveller History Month (GRTHM) was established in Britain in 2008 as a way of raising awareness of these communities and their contributions to society, and to offset negative stereotyping and prejudices. The aims of GRTHM include promoting knowledge of the Gypsy, Roma and Traveller history, culture, and heritage, and it is an opportunity to celebrate their contributions to British Society.
