If funders want more punch for their pound, collaboration is key 💪 Sophia C. Cooke's new blog on the Funders Collaborative Hub, Association of Charitable Foundations shares findings from our new report and why collaboration between funders is key! 👉 “There are so many incredible environmental groups around the world and inspiring funders working hard to support them, but there are many areas of ineffectiveness in the relationships between the two. This ineffectiveness is costly for everyone.” 👉 Our new report, ‘Increasing the effectiveness of environmental funder-fundraiser relationships’, explores fundraiser challenges and shares six approaches to help combat them. 👉 One approach, collaboration, is urgent: “There is little coordination between funders, with huge variation among application and reporting criteria, processes and timelines. These all create administrative and financial stress for environmental groups and mean a large amount of time is wasted...” 👉 As one fundraiser responded: “Funders would get more bang for their buck by joining forces to issue larger grants and we would get access to larger grants which were aligned in terms of timing and with a single reporting requirement. Absolutely. It’s a shameful indictment of our construction practices in the UK, the housing association, cladding manufacturers and Loss Prevention Council who we rely on for certification. They all have blood on their hands. We now need to get back to fire safety taking precedent over all other considerations such as energy efficiency, aesthetics and margin of profit. Lives always have to come first. As an Insurance industry we rely heavily on the fire safety data sheets when making judgments about the combustibility or otherwise of cladding when we set our rates, capacity and ultimately acceptability. We play our part too but if we have bent data, the cladding manufacturers and the LPC are tying our hands behind our backs. We expect and demand better

Be sure to also showcase your involvement in local events, charities, or initiatives. This not only establishes your presence but also demonstrates your commitment to the community. THE PEAK DISTRICT NATIONAL PARK COMMUNITY NATURE FUND Parish Councils, Community Interest Companies (CICs), registered charities and constituted voluntary groups can apply for a capital grant of between £500 and £5,000 for community projects within the Peak District National Park that create, improve or increase space for nature, such as community orchards, planting trees, wildflower meadows, creating ponds or other nature projects. Grants can be used for landscape features (such as trees and ponds), built items (for example, fencing) and equipment and tools to deliver the project outcomes. It will not fund organisational costs, work already undertaken, recoverable VAT or costs associated with fulfilling a statutory obligation or planning consent. Applicants must either be the landowner or be able to show the landowner’s permission for their project. The deadlines for applications in 2025 are: (1) Thursday 30th January; (2) Wednesday 30th April; and (3) Tuesday 30th September.
