🌱 The Power of a Mustard Seed, ACE Scholarships, and the Significance of Father’s Day As we celebrate Father’s Day, I'm reminded of the incredible role fathers play in nurturing the dreams and aspirations of their children. Much like a mustard seed, the smallest of all seeds, can grow into the largest of garden plants, so too can a small act of generosity grow into a life-changing opportunity. At ACE Scholarships we believe in the transformative power of educational choice. Each scholarship we provide is like a tiny mustard seed, filled with the potential to flourish into something magnificent. These scholarships enable children to attend schools that best fit their needs, fostering environments where they can thrive academically and personally. Fathers are often the ones who plant these seeds of hope, encouraging their children to dream big and work hard. We've seen firsthand how these opportunities can change the trajectory of a child's life, turning dreams into realities. It’s a reminder that even the smallest contributions can have a profound impact when nurtured with care and dedication. This Father’s Day, let's honor the fathers who inspire, guide, and support their children’s educational journeys. By supporting ACE Scholarships you're not just funding an education; you're planting a seed of hope, growth, and endless possibilities for future generations. Together, let's continue to sow these seeds and witness the extraordinary gardens they become. https://lnkd.in/gbDtyC8x #FathersDay #EducationalChoice #ACEsScholarships #Inspiration #Hope #Growth #PlantingSeeds

King’s is offering a new bursary to first-year, full-time undergraduate students thanks to a generous $1-million donation from The Joyce Family Foundation. It’s a gift that builds on the legacy of the late Ronald V. Joyce who created the foundation to help provide access to education for young Canadians. The university’s largest renewable bursary will be available to two students per year and is valued at $20,000 ($5,000 per year) for each recipient. It was created to provide financial support to students facing socio-economic barriers who might otherwise not be able to study at King’s. “We’re grateful to the Joyce Family Foundation for this bursary that will help us welcome the best and brightest students to King’s—it’s a gift that will open up a world of opportunities to the many students it benefits,” says King’s President William Lahey. Today, I’m overjoyed to share an update about Angel, whose story I’ve been posting about over the past week. Thanks to the incredible generosity of the SIU community, the SIU Foundation, and the university itself, we were able to rally together and help Angel overcome the financial obstacles that were keeping her from continuing her education. But this victory is about more than Angel. It’s a reminder of the adversity so many students face in their pursuit of higher education. In a world where a degree can open doors to life-changing opportunities, it’s easy to forget that attending college is still a privilege—one that too many people are denied because of systemic barriers. As I celebrate Angel’s success, I can’t help but reflect on my own experience. During my sophomore and junior years, I encountered unexpected issues with FAFSA that left me struggling to make ends meet. The isolation, the fear of having to put my dreams on hold, and the sense of uncertainty were overwhelming. I know firsthand how hard it is to focus on academics when you’re worried about something as fundamental as staying enrolled. It truly is your future on the line. For anyone reading this who might be facing similar challenges: you are not alone. Please remember to reach out. There are resources and people ready to help, even if it doesn’t always feel that way. Angel’s journey—and mine—underscore the need for us to reexamine the systems and infrastructure within our schools. We need to ask ourselves: how can we better support students who are just trying to access the education they’ve worked so hard for? This moment is a call to action for all of us to advocate for equitable and sustainable change in higher education. To everyone who contributed to Angel’s GoFundMe, who donated, shared, or simply offered words of encouragement: thank you. You made a difference, not just for Angel but for every student who will hear this story and feel a little less alone. And to SIU and the SIU Foundation, thank you for stepping up when it mattered most. I feel deeply humbled to have played a part in this process and to see what we can achieve when we come together. Let’s keep moving forward together, supporting one another, and working toward a future where no one has to fight so hard for an education.
