Once we've agreed to work together, I like to begin the coaching journey with a Kick-Off Session that includes both the person being coached and their line manager. This complimentary session sets the foundation for our coaching engagement by aligning expectations and sharpening the areas of focus for the individual. For the line manager, it's an opportunity to share what they want to see in terms of the individual's development and growth throughout the coaching process. Understanding their feedback and expectations helps me guide the coaching journey in a way that benefits both the individual and the organization. Bringing the three of us together at the start ensures that everyone is on the same page and that the coaching engagement is set up for success. What turns data into meaningful change? High quality coaching! One critical finding from my research into Personality Assessments and Professional Development is that the variable which has the biggest impact is the quality of the feedback session and on-going support. Great coaches help connect data with personal meaning and growth. The world of coaching accreditations can be the wild, wild west so I'll always endorse David Jenkins & Mia O'Gorman who are both expert coaches in their own right and some of the best people to learn the art and science of coaching from.
Does being an accredited Insights Discovery practitioner make you a great coach? It’s a question we often hear from those looking to expand their people development skills. My answer? Not quite! And this applies to many other personality tools too. While personality assessments offer great insights, coaching is a unique skill set that goes far beyond providing feedback. It’s about facilitating real, transformational change. Personality tools may open the conversation, but true coaching expertise ensures that change is lasting. I highly recommend enhancing your skills with coaching know-how to bring even more value to your Insights Discovery practice and to those you support. To join us on November 18th and 19th for our last EMCC Coaching Essentials training of 2024 and take your people development skills to the next level, please reach out to me or Mia O’Gorman.

Helping Entrepreneurs Enhance Emotional Intelligence and Self-Awareness to Unlock Leadership and Relationship Potential
One of the most common things my clients appreciate about our coaching sessions is that by the end of a session, they realize that most of the insights we’ve uncovered are things they already knew. But for one reason or another, they hadn’t arrived at these solutions on their own. This is one of the most practical applications of a coaching engagement. It creates a space for you to get out your own head, to talk through things that are important to you out loud, and have those thoughts mirrored back with new perspectives. This process naturally helps to organize ideas and brings clarity – so by the end of the session, you feel energized and ready to take action.
