Francine Katsoudas shared a powerful post spotlighting a heartbreaking reality: 4.2 million youth and teens experience homelessness in the U.S. 💔 As we approach a season of gratitude and giving, let’s consider redirecting some of our resources to impact these young lives. By giving, you can: - Support young people escaping human trafficking and finding safety - Offer hope to those who feel the world has left them behind - Transform spare change into essential shelter, clothing, and protection for those most vulnerable One less pizza, T-shirt, or streaming movie could mean the world to someone without a safe place to sleep. Be a holiday hero—better yet, become a monthly hero! With monthly support, you can keep hope alive for young people who desperately need it, which is an eternal investment with unprecedented ROI. Believe it or not, the most significant difference often comes from everyday people with a heart for those in need. Together, we can make change happen. https://lnkd.in/g7mmfmKP Steve Gatena Ryan Sick Covenant House International

You do not survive AND overcome without developing an unbreakable will. I have encountered and studied too many forms of homelessness, child adversity, and poverty to walk away from this need. I simply cannot let others face that fate. My vast experience and expertise can be used with purpose - a true intention to spread love, encourage joy, and grow community-driven solutions. It is time the cloak of invisibility lifts and the plight revealed: All across America there is a mental health and youth/young/ adult homelessness crisis. Problems have SOLUTIONS, but they often require time, energy, perserverance, creativity, innovation, and resilience. Healing also requires these skills. I was fortunate to have a teacher-turned-family and community organizations providing essential interventions when I needed them most. And now, I am a collective of these people, insights, skills, knowledge, hope and love. I will not back down or away from this subject. And I have found so many helpers in these communities, doing the work to address housing and food insecurity every day, unnoticed, but so dedicated. I KNOW lives are at stake every day there is no Safe Haven access for juveniles. I know Ocean County had 3 runaways in less than 3 weeks and rising missing juvenile reports. I know Monmouth and Ocean's lack of emergency access INCREASES the risks of Human Trafficking and Child Sexual Exploitation. But I've learned that I CANNOT do it without your support. Please let me know, or PM me, with any funding opportunities. Let's #BeTheChange Together! https://lnkd.in/g3jXfQJp

Check out this CNN feature about a team of superheros who partner with Life Science Cares Boston!
Our Nonprofit Partner, Horizons for Homeless Children, was recently featured on CNN as part of its feature series, "Homeless in America." While the 15% national rise in family homelessness statistic is daunting, Horizons is highlighted as a national model improving the lives of young children experiencing homelessness in Boston. Amazing work. Volunteer to be a Playspace Activity Leader at Horizons and make a difference in children's lives: https://lnkd.in/eBKpAWzc https://lnkd.in/ewJPSC-b

🎥 When we create space for connection, amazing things happen. Last week, our son Jordan showed me the power of community in action. For Hunger & Homelessness Awareness Week (Nov 17-23), he decided to take the lead on a project close to his heart: creating care packages for our unhoused neighbors in Middle Tennessee. 💛 We had an honest conversation about the challenges—times are tight for many, including our family. But rather than feeling discouraged, Jordan asked, “What can I do to make this happen?” With that spark of determination, he recorded a video to rally our community, inviting them to help make his vision a reality. The response was incredible: ✅ Over $230 in donations ✅ Supplies for 42 care packages ✅ Friends and neighbors from across the area contributing their time, resources, and encouragement Together, we assembled care packages filled with essentials, love, and handwritten notes on November 23rd. Last week, these were delivered to Murfreesboro Cold Patrol, a local organization providing direct support to those in need. This experience was about more than just care packages. It was about: 🌟 Fostering leadership in our youth: When we empower young people to take ownership of projects, they learn to lead with compassion and confidence. 🌟 Building community: By bringing people together for a shared purpose, we strengthen the bonds that make meaningful change possible. 🌟 Cultivating gratitude and action: It's not just about what we have, but how we use it to uplift others. As a parent and a community builder, this project was a reminder that creating opportunities for connection and contribution is one of the greatest investments we can make. If you’re passionate about nurturing the next generation of leaders or want to build stronger communities, let’s connect. There’s so much we can do together to create spaces where good energy thrives. 💡 Check out the full event recap here: https://lnkd.in/efkSm-6N #CommunityBuilding #YouthLeadership #GratitudeInAction #GrowthMindset

"They still have hopes and dreams, and they're excited about their future. They're just in a place where they don't know how to navigate through this crisis." Our work is focused on ending homelessness for young people. But for CEO William Bedrossian, the fight is about more than just creating stability for the youth of today. Having spent his whole career in youth services, he's seen how early intervention can help people avoid the lifelong cycle of chronic homelessness. So despite being specialists in caring for youth, Bill's goal is to help Covenant House create ripple effects that contribute to ending the homelessness crisis for all.

On Thursday 14th November, I'll be joining some of my manifesto colleagues at Centrepoint's Sleep Out 2024. I'll be giving up my home comforts and bed for a sleeping bag on the floor on a cold wintry night to help ensure every young person is helped with the strong foundations – a job and a home. Currently, around 136,000 young people face homelessness in the UK each year. That’s a 5% increase compared to previous years, and sadly, its expected that those numbers will to continue to rise. We know that vulnerable groups are always the worst hit by changes affecting our society and more young people than ever before find themselves vulnerable and without a place to call home. If you're able to sponsor me to sleep out so that we’re able end youth homelessness regardless of what lies ahead it would be greatly appreciated. What Your Support Can Do: £10 provides a young person with a warm meal £20 funds essential mental health support £50 supports career and job training £100+ goes toward safe accommodation and education programs The link to donate is:

This #GivingTuesday, it's crucial to acknowledge that the issue of homelessness persists, and our current approach is not working. Please consider supporting The Man/Kind Initiative with a tax-deductible donation to prevent individuals from experiencing homelessness. Your donation will provide food for at-risk children, homeless #veterans, the elderly who are facing homelessness and other #foodinsecure families at https://lnkd.in/gitcUgyB.

A Sobering Reality: Supporting Families in Our Communities and World. Recently, I had the privilege of following up the end-of-year and Christmas program for widows in my small community, Ru-Ndele, under the auspices of a local foundation. What I discovered left me deeply moved and troubled—a staggering and verified count of nearly 1,000 widows in a community that many would consider small. This number compelled me to reflect on the underlying causes and the profound challenges faced by families when a man—often the breadwinner—passes away. My further research uncovered two painful truths: 1. The African Man’s Struggle The responsibility to provide, protect, defend, and elevate his family is immense for the average African man. This task is further compounded by economic instability, societal expectations, and the unrelenting pressure to meet standards set by political elites who often flaunt their wealth. This burden takes a significant toll, reducing the life expectancy of the average African man by at least 10 years. Those years, which could have been spent creating cherished memories, imparting wisdom, and sharing laughter with their children, are lost to stress and overexertion. 2. The Widow’s Fight for Survival When a man passes away, the challenges for his wife are magnified. Many women, suddenly thrust into widowhood, are unprepared for the void left behind. Without the necessary skills, empowerment, or resources, they are left to navigate life’s complexities alone. This struggle can persist for years, leading to confusion, despair, and an uphill battle to provide for their families. This harsh reality calls for action. Let us remember that every little effort counts. Light up your neighborhood, your community, and the world in whatever ways you can. The struggle within many families is real, but it becomes infinitely harder when the man is no longer there. Humanity Nest , we take this act more serious than you can imagine, we consider it a mission and a vision. The App and Community Mini Donation/ Food Pantry Centers (CMDFPC) prevents disaster during aid distribution. Together, we can build a society where no family, widow or child is left in the shadows. #HumanityNest #CommunityCare #SDGGoals
