It's been interesting to review the leaked Google API documents over the last couple of days (and the wide range of analysis being provided by those in the #SEO community). Paired with some of the earlier disclosures in the various legal cases Google has been battling, I don't see a ton that is new or novel. Competent SEOs who have been regularly testing their strategies over the last decade are more likely to shrug, while those who have been relying on hearsay and task driven approaches seem more enthusiastic. Coalition Technologies has always aimed to be data driven and we've aggressively tested various theories on how Google will approach the immense technical challenge of crawling, indexing, ranking, and curating the world's knowledge (and idiocy). We're seeing a lot of those test outcomes publicly reinforced now. The one very interesting thing about this disclosure is not so much what Google values for rankings, but how Google thinks about controlling its algorithm. For others in SEO and #digitalmarketing, I'd step back from the details here and consider what it tells you about Google's guiding theories for its search results.
