Improving the innovation, productivity, equality, & social well-being of employers and employees while mitigating healthcare risk with advanced primary care. UofM & MSU mom—house divided!
We all know health insurance is expensive. It's interesting to see it broken down into how many hours it would take to pay for an insurance premium. The highest paid employee spends just over 2 hours of their salary to pay for monthly insurance premiums, whereas, the lowest paid employee spends almost 10 hours of their pay every month for insurance premiums. This may leave little to no money left for copays and deductibles. While we need insurance, it's an expense. Expenses can be eliminated. Healthcare cannot. Local, private advanced high value direct primary care like SALTA Direct Primary Care is the foundation to helping the lowest paid worker get the care needed without copays & deductibles with 24/7 access anytime, anywhere. The highest paid workers like business owners and executives can get the same great 24/7 access without hidden fees while improving the health & productivity of their workforce AND lowering overall costs. #salta #directprimarycare #pricetransparency #nohiddenfees #seeking #care #without #barriers #everyonewins
The lowest-wage employees would have to work nearly 10 hours to pay their monthly premiums, more than 4 times that of the highest-paid employees

Bonyhady, the architect of NDIS, reviewing his own baby with rose-tinted glasses. So many #conflicts of interest flying around. Like asking a chef to review his own restaurant—how can we expect objectivity when personal reputation is on the line? Sustainability Myths. Underestimated expenses, Initially projected as a sleek & cost-effective system, #NDIS now 'appears' to be a financial black hole. Did someone forget to carry the one in their calculations? #Sustainability is Like a New Year’s resolution to save money, great in theory, but can it withstand the pressures of reality? Ethical & Legal Implications Appointing Bonyhady feels like asking a fox to audit the henhouse. Is this about transparency, or just maintaining the illusion of it? Fairness & impartiality aren't just buzzwords; they're the bedrock of any credible review. Otherwise, it’s a bit like hiring the accused to lead the jury. Best Practices. Looking at global models can shed light on more effective frameworks. Adopting industry standards could it transform NDIS from a cautionary tale into a model of #fiscal responsibility. Or is that just wishful thinking? Bonyhady’s appointment is a classic case of the “Fox guarding the henhouse” paradox. Expertise vs. impartiality: Can we ever have one without compromising the other? Can someone deeply invested in the creation of a system impartially critique it, or will they inevitably be blind to its flaws? Bias or Expertise? Does having the creator of a system review its failings ensure deep insights, or does it just guarantee a lack of objectivity? Conflict of Interest or Best Fit? Can someone with a vested interest in a scheme’s success truly prioritize necessary reforms over personal or professional pride? Appointing Bonyhady to review the NDIS is like asking a pyromaniac to inspect fire safety. What could possibly go wrong? Is appointing Bonyhady more about maintaining the appearance of a rigorous review rather than ensuring an #unbiased evaluation? Is it possible to find someone who combines deep understanding with unbiased scrutiny, or is that the real unicorn in public policy? Was the initial financial oversight a genuine mistake, or were the true costs conveniently downplayed to get the scheme approved? Projected costs? More like wishful thinking. Did they use a magic 8-ball for their calculations? Impartial review by its creator? That’s like letting a toddler grade their own drawing—adorable but hardly objective. The cost blowout is surprising? Only if you believe in the toothfairy really exists. Graham Taylor Pink-Haired Lady Karen Lorenzon Trudy Newell Mark Sweeney Mark Toomey Marie J. I am so grateful to work with the Hanover Co-op Food Stores who believes business can contribute to a more just and sustainable world. The Hanover Co-op Food Stores advocate for implementing a universal paid family and medical leave insurance program for Vermont's workforce. We believe providing this benefit improves the health and well-being of working Vermonters and, therefore, our community and our business. Small business owners and employees need time off to care for themselves or a loved one in response to a major life event like cancer or addiction, welcoming a new child, caring for an ailing parent, or experiencing domestic violence. In the absence of paid leave, many families face the possibility of life-changing debt, bankruptcy, drawing down on retirement savings, or the need for public assistance programs when facing a personal or family health crisis. No one should have to choose between their paycheck and the care they need. Many of Vermont's businesses lack the capital needed to provide paid leave to employees or are too small to access private short-term disability insurance plans. When emergencies inevitably happen, it leaves businesses and employees holding the bill. Inclusive, state-required paid leave insurance would be a great equalizer for employees at small businesses, and between the small businesses and the larger corporations we compete with for employees. Employee turnover is a significant cost to the detriment of any business. A universal paid leave program reduces turnover and can lead to higher employee morale, directly increasing productivity. When employees exit the workforce to address a health or family crisis, the cost is staggering for any business to replace and train qualified staff. We need this legislation to pass to help secure our labor pool. The Hanover Co-op Food Stores support the development of a state strategy for all companies that guarantees paid leave as a step toward creating a more stable workforce and community. These are essential components of a sustainable economic system. Fellow Vermont Businesses and Business owners, join us in asking Vermont lawmakers to pass this vital legislation next legislative session and raise the standard of living for all Vermonters. Make your business voice a force for good here:

#EmployerNews - “Looking to expand options for employers and working families in Kentucky, the House Banking and Insurance Committee passed a Wednesday bill that would authorize insurers to offer paid family leave insurance plans in Kentucky. House Bill 179, sponsored by Rep. Samara Heavrin, would help Kentucky employers who would like to offer an additional benefit to their employees by amending state law to allow voluntary paid family leave to be offered as an insurance product. Companies could choose to purchase this insurance to benefit their employees. Paid family leave insurance would provide a temporary wage replacement for workers who need to take leave to provide care to a sick family member; bond with a child after the child’s birth, adoption, or placement for foster care; care for a family member in the military or a first responder who was injured in the line of duty; or for other reasons as outlined in the employer’s benefit plan. The employer’s plan would also determine the length of paid leave benefits” (The Lane Report). Learn more about the Bill: https://lnkd.in/ekd9mX8P

2moThank you, MEMIC for shining a light on what I think is the top issue for workers: child care. I am happy to accept this award on behalf of the CEI team who work tirelessly to help people overcome the challenges of opening a child care business. We are inspired every day by the child care providers who enable parents to work full time while providing a safe place for children to explore, learn and develop into our next generation of Mainers.
