Having an inclusive UX design is vital to your user journey🚀 Start with empathy 💗 Accessibility is a key principle in good UX design, but it goes beyond that. It's about more than just making it accessible to users, it's about addressing the various needs and minimizing access barriers across ALL users 🙏 Here's a handful of tips for creating a meaningful and inclusive experience: ⚡️Familiarize yourself with the ways people use assistive technology ⚡️Include accessibility requirements into your design constraints ⚡️Identify existing points of exclusion (across all classes + groups) ⚡️Make sure your heading hierarchy follows the reading/visual order ⚡️Include logical tab orders in your wireframes + mockups ⚡️Design for logical focus behavior across interactive elements ⚡️Include various translations, transcripts, caption formats & playback speeds ⚡️Include basic landmark elements in your design layout & min. touch targets ⚡️Use descriptive alt-text across images ⚡️Test forms and interactions with screen readers & keyboards ⚡️Use clear and legible typefaces, text sizes and colors ⚡️Maintain good contrast + utilize a contrasting tool for testing ⚡️Conduct user research across diverse groups Reframe your design processes by focusing on inclusivity instead of just accessibility-- this will allow you to design with all humans in mind, regardless of their abilities💚 Check out this recent blog by Featured, where I had the opportunity to share my thoughts on WCAG as a part of creating an inclusive UX design. https://lnkd.in/gd3yhypH

Good UX is Invisible You see, in the digital realm, the best user experiences are the ones you hardly notice. And trust me, after years in the design field, I've come to appreciate the beauty of simplicity and seamlessness. Whenever I talk about this I refer to the basic, yet absolute law of UX design defined by Steve Krug: Don’t make me think. That’s the deal: good UX isn't about flashy gimmicks or attention-grabbing tactics. It's about creating experiences that feel like second nature, effortlessly guiding users toward their goals without them even realizing it. Early this year we were working on a super interesting project for a family-owned, tile company. They have amazing products but the user experience was lacking in terms of offering tools for Architects and designers to sample their products. We created a seamless experience that allows users to browse their collections but to also configure the sample that they need and get it delivered. This became a game changer as they became a point of reference in the industry, with users praising the usefulness of the tool but its simplicity and friendliness above all. They feel that a previously complicated and full-of-fiction process is now a straightforward process. That's the magic of good UX – it's invisible, yet omnipresent. It's the unsung hero behind every click, swipe, and tap, quietly working its magic to enhance the user journey. So, how do we achieve this elusive state of invisibility? It starts with understanding the user – their habits, their preferences, their pain points. It means stripping away the unnecessary clutter and focusing on what truly matters. It's about creating clear pathways, intuitive interactions, and frictionless experiences that feel like second nature. But here's the kicker – achieving good UX isn't a one-size-fits-all solution. It's a journey of continuous refinement, iteration, and adaptation. It's about listening to feedback, staying attuned to evolving user needs, and always striving to do better.
