On July 1st, I interviewed an exceptional candidate for an Emergency Room RN position. She had avoided working with recruiters for 2 years due to negative experiences but decided to give it another shot. She interviewed with the hiring manager on July 5th and, drumroll please, was told she will be receiving an offer! 🎉 When I called to share the fantastic news, she thanked me and shared some feedback that truly touched my heart. She told me I was the first recruiter in years to truly listen, keep her updated regularly, and show genuine interest in her journey. But here’s the kicker—she decided to put me to the test to see if I actually listened. She asked me to recall something personal about her. Without hesitation, I brought up her adorable dog, Molly, and their fun day at the river. She was shocked and said, “Cassie, you actually remember Molly’s name? You really listen. No one’s ever done that before. I plan to accept the offer.” (more was said, but this is the short version) This experience reaffirms why I’m passionate about what I do. It’s not just about filling positions; it’s about building trust, truly listening, and making a positive impact on people’s lives. To all my fellow recruiters and anyone in a people-focused role: never underestimate the power of genuine communication and empathy. It makes all the difference. To my candidates - when you lose, I lose. When you win, I win. If I cannot help, my network can. It is not about what you can do for me, it is about what I can do for YOU. You are what matters. If a recruiter is not taking you seriously or caring about you and what you want for yourself, drop them. It's just like a relationship; it takes both of you together to make your dreams come true.

I'll refuse to work with you if... I've touched on this before, however As the business grows, my beliefs on these red flags have solidified:🙅♂️ 🚩 Dropping candidates for rescheduling interviews doesn't align with our values. Flexibility is key, most of the people we work with have full time jobs. I'm sure if they were working for your company you wouldn't want someone dropping you in the 💩 to attend an interview 🚩 Stringing candidates along (just incase your second and third choice drop out) Moving quicker shows respect for their time and decisions, it also allows those unsuccessful to quickly move on in this competitive market 🚩 Being rude reflects poorly on your morals.
