This certification illustrates one of our core values: constantly questioning and challenging ourselves 🚀 Let's take a closer look at that: 💡 What is Lean & Green International? Lean and Green International is a nonprofit program that helps accelerate sustainable logistics by auditing and accompanying companies in their efforts to reduce their environmental footprint of their logistical operations. 🔑 Why did we decide to get involved? According to the International Energy Agency, logistics activities are responsible for 11% of global CO2 emissions. As an international company, we recognize our responsibility in this regard and are dedicated to making continuous improvements. Since 2018, Famoco has been a member of the LOGISTICS IN WALLONIA innovation hub. Being part of this community allows us to participate in collaborative projects dedicated to transportation, logistics, supply chain, and mobility in Wallonia, as well as to stay updated with the latest state-of-the-art practices. The Lean and Green program is one of the main topics discussed, sparking our interest and commitment. 📃 What are our initiatives? Our commitments align with our CSR approach and the Paris Climate goals. Our CO2 reduction plan includes five actions applied to our entire logistics process: ⏩ Direct shipments: Shorter distances between our production centers and customers. 🚢 Sea freight instead of air freight: Larger imports via sea routes to our logistics center in Belgium. 📉 Reduction of emissions calculated per ton per kilometer: Lowering either the mass or the distance of battery and accessory shipments. 🔋 Maximizing battery utilization thanks to our partner VoltR. 🛠️ Creation of device repair centers: Establishing repair centers to reduce the need for shipping devices back and forth. 📝 What feedback did we receive? Our actions have been recognized as coherent ✔️  Our plan's ease of implementation was highlighted 🙌 Our intercompany project and repair centers have been described as innovative 🌟 Our teams are even more motivated to reach the next steps! As the certificate indicates, we can achieve up to a 43% reduction in a logistic scope covering 90.6% of our current activity by 2027. Shipping company Hapag-Lloyd AG has just released its 2023 KPI data, showing it is now currently meeting its Sustainability-Linked Bond target performance target for 2024 – to reduce its Average Efficiency Ratio (AER) based on fleet carbon emissions. In our recent review of SLBs with observation dates in 2024, we put Hapag-Lloyd in the 50:50 category, meaning we hadn’t enough data to predict whether the company would likely miss or meet its target. Its new report shows that with verified AER for 2023 (6.31g CO2/dead weight tonnage x nautical miles), the company is progressing well with decarbonisation of its fleet. If the trajectory does not revert, it will meet its Sustainability Performance Target.
