It's Sarcoma Awareness Month and we'd like to take the opportunity to raise awareness about the importance of early diagnosis with this rare form of cancer. Working with surgeons, our biomedical engineers understand that time to treatment is critical. The more time passes, the greater the chances of the growth impinging on healthy bone stock, critical anatomical structures, and surrounding anatomy. That's why we work fast and accurately in such cases; knowing how quickly scans can become out of date and how important achieving negative margins are for surgeon and patient. Breast cancer doesn’t only affect women—though rare, it also impacts men. Approximately 0.5-1% of breast cancer cases occur in men, and just like women, early detection is crucial. The treatment for breast cancer in men follows the same principles as in women, including surgery, radiation, and other therapies. Men, too, should be aware of changes in their chest area and consult a healthcare provider if they notice any unusual signs. A recent MD Anderson Cancer Center study shows staggering reoperation stats in #breastcancer cases. Overall reoperation rates for breast-conserving surgery (BCS) were 21% in females between 18–64 years old and 15% in females 65 years and older. Compared to women with IBC, DCIS patients had even higher reoperation rates: 18% vs. 31% (age 18- 64) and 13% vs. 24% (age 65+). Women aged 18-44 with DCIS and commercial insurance had the highest reoperation rate at 40%. These reoperation realities, on top of the rising incidence of breast cancer in younger women, shed light on the need for a solution to this pressing problem. https://lnkd.in/e4Cj88GT

Gen X'ers, listen up! One of our own needs our attention. Jenna Fischer, our beloved Pam from The Office, just shared some heavy news. Last December, she was diagnosed with Stage 1 Triple Positive Breast Cancer. But here's the kicker – after a tough journey through surgery, chemo, and radiation, she's now cancer-free. This hits close to home for many of us. We grew up with Jenna on our screens, and now she's reminding us of something crucial: Early detection saves lives. So, here's your Gen X wake-up call: 🚨 If you haven't had your mammogram this year, book it. Now. 🚨 If you've been putting it off, stop procrastinating. 🚨 If you're thinking, "I'll do it later," make later today. Remember, we're the generation that survived dial-up internet and MTV actually playing music. We can handle a mammogram. Let's take a cue from Pam... er, Jenna. Be proactive. Be vigilant.
