As we hustle through our busy workdays, it's easy to get caught up in the grind and forget about the amazing colleagues who help keep everything running smoothly. Today, I want to take a moment to remind everyone to thank and appreciate our administrative and frontline office teams – the individuals who are the backbone of our operations. I am SO LUCKY to be in a company where folks CONSTANTLY say 'I'm sure people don't thank you enough ...." they do! but Everyone deserves recognition for their work! It feels great! These dedicated professionals handle everything from managing schedules, supporting teams, answering calls, organizing resources, and handling countless details that make our work possible. They often go unnoticed, but their efforts make all the difference in keeping things moving efficiently. So, whether it's a quick thank you, a note of recognition, or a gesture of appreciation – let's make sure we take the time to show gratitude to the people who make our jobs easier every single day. 🙏 Remember, it's the little things that go a long way. 💙 #ThankYou #AdministrativeProfessionals #FrontlineHeroes #Appreciation #Gratitude #Teamwork

End of the Work-Week Reflections 💭 Today, my client reminded me of something I didn’t even realize—I’m making an impact in ways I hadn’t thought about before. My client was out of the office for two whole weeks, the longest time since I started working with him. During our check-in, he expressed how relieved and happy he was to find his inbox organized and calm upon his return, with no overwhelm or chaos. It’s more than just managing his emails. I gave him peace of mind, allowing him to focus on the tasks that truly need his attention. Even more rewarding, he can now take time away from work without worrying, knowing everything is in good hands. I realized that my role goes beyond handling daily tasks—it's about creating a supportive environment where my client can feel confident and at ease. Helping him breathe easier and step away from work without stress is a gift I’m so grateful to provide. 🌸 This experience is a reminder that the work we do truly makes a difference, even when we don’t notice it right away. We're offering more than just help—we're giving peace of mind, and that’s something invaluable. ✨ #WomenInBusiness #ExecutiveSupport #Empowerment #MakingADifference #Teamwork #BusinessGrowth

"Nap-Hour Work Week" is the book I'm writing today. I don't stay home much on workdays, but I am today. I had no idea what being a stay at home parent entails. You have 0 time. Just, like, generally, 0 time. I'm not sure how else to explain it. Play time rolls into snack, which rolls into play time, which rolls into dog food everywhere, followed by reading a pop-up book. What laundry? Is that a joke? You try to power hour the most important work task into nap time. It's a 60 minute sprint. If we all did this, every day, we would be crushing it. If you were only allowed to work two hours a day, and were forced to ask yourself what tasks really need to be done in those two hours, your business would be different.

As a Senior Consultant working remotely, every day is a mix of strategy, collaboration, and problem-solving. My mornings often start with team meetings to align priorities and tackle challenges, setting the tone for a productive day. Once that’s done, I shift my focus to maintaining and optimizing the processes we’ve built—ensuring everything runs smoothly and efficiently. Afternoons bring opportunities to connect with clients, understanding their unique needs and offering tailored solutions. When client consultations aren’t on the agenda, I dedicate time to deep, focused work—refining strategies or brainstorming innovative approaches to ongoing projects. Evenings, especially on Mondays and Thursdays, are for stand-up meetings from 7 to 10 PM. These collaborative sessions keep us aligned, motivated, and ready to achieve our long-term goals. It’s a full day, but one that’s fulfilling and purposeful. Today, as I share a glimpse into my daily routine, I want to take a moment to celebrate International Men’s Day. This day is a reminder to acknowledge the contributions, challenges, and growth of men in all areas of life—whether at work, in the family, or within the community. To all the incredible men out there balancing careers, responsibilities, and personal goals, here’s to you! Keep striving, leading, and inspiring. Happy International Men’s Day! How are you celebrating or reflecting today? Let’s chat in the comments!

The real reason you're bringing work home over the holidays isn't because you have too much to do... Kate thought she was managing her workload perfectly. "I'm on top of things at work," she told me. "I'm just taking a little admin home to catch up." But when we dug deeper, we discovered that she wasn't really managing her time - her time was managing her. Every time her team needed something, she dropped everything to help. Every time an email came in, she felt compelled to respond immediately. Result? She was: • Missing drop off for her daughter’s first day of high school • Getting up at 4 am to catch up on documentation before going into the office • And STILL falling behind on her strategic planning for the next quarter The truth? Her "time management" problem wasn't about time at all. It was about control. Like so many brilliant women leaders, she has very high standards. She knew that she wanted things done right - and felt that she had to jump in to make sure that happened. But once she realized that, no matter how good she was at her job (and she IS good), she could never do EVERYONE’S job better than they could. Done is better than perfect but waiting on her sign off… Today she's leading differently: ✅ Her team understand the quality they have to reach, and they monitor themselves ✅ Her documentation & admin gets done during work hours, that she blocks off ✅ And she's not even slightly stressed about hosting her in laws for Christmas Day because she won’t be called away The secret? Learning that letting go of control actually gives you more of it. Where could you decide to let go of a little control? Let us know in the comments (or send me a DM if you’re shy!)

A much-anticipated HAPPY HOUR: Yesterday evening, a group of former work colleagues gathered for a much-anticipated happy hour at a cozy downtown restaurant. The atmosphere buzzed with excitement as old friends reunited, sharing stories and laughter that seemed to echo the years gone by. As the night unfolded, conversation flowed effortlessly, recalling the days of late-night deadlines, intense brainstorming sessions, and the camaraderie forged during long office hours. But amid the memories, one common thread emerged: the lasting impact the time working together had on each of their lives. Though the years had passed and our career paths had shifted, the bonds formed in the workplace were undeniable. We realized how those shared experiences, both challenging and rewarding, had shaped our growth—not just as professionals, but as individuals. The teamwork, the problem-solving, the occasional frustrations—all had contributed to shaping our perspectives on life and work. In the end, it wasn’t just the work that had shaped us but the connection and the community we had built along the way. The reunion wasn’t just a happy hour; it was a reminder of how work, in its own unique way, had touched our lives in ways they hadn’t fully realized until now. I want to thank you from the list below and will also tag friends that we want to be with next time. 🚪 Walking out of the office for the last time—an emotional moment that hits hard. Yesterday, I witnessed the last working day of a senior colleague and realized just how tough goodbyes are in the corporate world. 💼💔 📌 Imagine working at an organization for 2, 5, or even 10 years. Over time, your colleagues aren’t just coworkers—they become family. More than your actual home, you spend your days with them, sharing: ☕ Chai pe charcha & coffee breaks 😂 Inside jokes & office gossip 🎂 Birthday celebrations & team outings 🏆 Victories, failures, and everything in between Then comes the farewell. Not because you want to leave, but because growth demands it. There’s nothing wrong with moving on, but the emotional turmoil in your last week—especially on the final day—is overwhelming. 😞 💬 Your team wishes you well. 🎊 A farewell party is planned. 📝 Heartfelt messages are shared. And suddenly, you realize—you haven’t just built a career, you’ve built lifelong connections. ❤️ Then comes that last walk out of the office… 📂 Submitting your laptop & ID card, knowing you can’t swipe back in. 👋 Waving goodbye, realizing this is the last time at your desk, in that building, with these people. 🚶♂️ Walking out the door, filled with memories that will stay forever. Corporate goodbyes are tough. Not just because of the job we leave behind, but because of the people, moments, and experiences we take with us. 💡 To everyone who has ever walked out of an office for the last time. #corporatelife #workculture #farewell #lastworkingday #goodbyemoments #officelife #colleaguesturnedfamily #careergrowth #professionaljourney #workplaceemotions #lifeatwork #careerreflections

Name 5 things that make you happy in the job market today. Here’s mine: 1: People are upskilling like never before. I’m constantly amazed at the things candidates are bringing to the table. Better yet, they are proud of what they’ve achieved. There are technical folks who are building their creative skills. Creatives who are building their project managing skills. And so on. 2: We have the gift of time returning to us in a way that’s been stalling for decades, perhaps since the 5-day work week was introduced in 1926. Today, we have lots of remote and hybrid work options. Even full-time in-office workspaces are more flexible than ever before. 3: It’s not one size fits all. Companies are accommodating people of all backgrounds and abilities. Roles and work conditions are adjusted to get the best performance out of people, rather than asking people to change themselves. 4: Hobbies and secondary careers are celebrated, not something you have to hide. Weekend rock singers? Food bloggers? Small business owners? I love seeing how people feed their souls outside of work. 5: We’re logging off when we’re done. The days of answering emails on the weekend or at the dinner table is going out of fashion. And if you’re not doing this, I encourage you to consider it. Yes, it’s been a tough time in the market, but a lot of good changes have emerged in the past several years too. Let’s remember to celebrate that and not just get lost in the doom and gloom. Happy Friday!

And I want to thank YOU, Coco! For keeping our Chicago office humming like a well-oiled machine, rooms setup for events, kitchen stocked, visitors routed, and all of the many things that you do behind the scenes! Thank you so much!
