A windsurf is the world's first AI agent powered ID. Behind the scenes, we run large language models to try and predict what the users are doing so that we can better inform and give them access to tools that can predict their next move and complete code for them. I think our initial plan would windsurf was always like we're going to have two panels. One of them is our chat panel that we've been working on for like, you know, over a year now. And one of them is just like new cascade thing, which is a little. Experimental, we'll see what people do with it. Nick here walks over to our side of the room and he's like, what if we just remove chat? And we're kind of sitting here like, haha, that's funny. Like we've been working on this for like a year and a half now or something. Like, why would we do that, right? Then we talk about it more and it's like, you know, Cascade is this new, very impressive thing. Every time we've used it, we've sort of seen like the potential of what it can do. We decide let's just take this massive functionality and remove it. I was trying to actually implement this thing and remove chat. Like making sure that other IDs had it and whatnot. And I was like, ohh, whatever. Like let me try like with Cascade to do this. And the idea with Cascade was chat still felt very user directed, meaning that if you asked the chat a question and it produced code for you, that's great. But you still have to like manually decide what to ask and you have to copy and paste it into like the right file. And that felt very old fashioned, if you want to call it, especially now that we had this thing that could actually reason multiple steps ahead. There was a concrete aha moment, which was if you guys remember when Nick Jiang wrote. Define tool just using Cascade. So basically, when Cascade started writing itself, that was a huge moment. We've always seen Cascade being really good at zero to 1 apps. To actually use it on a very complex and large code base to actually have to go and find the relevant files and the pointers and to figure out the logic of how to write. You know, in this case, another tool is a remarkable milestone to hit. It takes a lot to get 100 people to have conviction in something that maybe they don't fully understand, or maybe they're not. Has tapped into the problem, but we come out on the other side and I think we have a product that we're all very proud of. A lot of the details where you know, it just seems seamless actually has been a lot of hours of end on the engineering and product side to make that experience really feel as seamless as it is.
