Reposting for reach. There's a short list of alternative (similar?) groups to Women Who Code in this post and the comments. EDIT: The comments in the post have a longer list of communities advocating for women in tech.
Women Who Code shutting down is sad sign of the times. This community has been a constant support for me since before I embarked on my career in tech, significantly advocating for the inclusion of women in the industry. This is a stark reminder that we need more action and support from big corporations and society at large to help women thrive in tech. Its crucial that we create inclusive environments where women are encouraged, supported and are given equal opportunities to excel in their careers. In the meantime, here are a few communities you can rely on: 1. AnitaB.org 2. Women Techmakers 3. Women in Data Science (WiDS) Worldwide 4. Girls Who Code #Diversity #Inclusion #InspireInclusion #WomenInTech #IWD

I'm surprised by this gender gap on our platform: 87.6% men vs. 12.4% women. Nocode tools are supposed to be accessible to everyone. This reflects the broader nocode industry. Let's bridge this gap and support more women in nocode ✊ Diversity drives innovation👨🚀👩🚀🚀✨ #WomenInTech #NoCode

Working on this post has been inspiring, and I’ve learned so much from my incredible colleagues. Now, here’s my two cents. Lesson learned: Everyone experiences imposter syndrome at some point. This feeling never fully disappears, and it's often the most talented and hardworking individuals who struggle with it the most. What I’d tell my younger self: If something comes easily to you, remember it might not be the case for others. Focus on and enhance these effortless skills - they're your true strengths. Now, your turn.
We've got some big sister advice for you. 🙋♀️ This International Women's Day, we're skipping the empty platitudes and clichés. Instead, we're offering what many wish they had but didn't: Hard-earned lessons for women in tech from the badass women of Proxify. Share this with a woman in your life. Trust us, she needs to hear it. Proxify’s network is waiting for you: https://lnkd.in/ekNSW4mf #womenintech #coding #softwaredevelopment #developers #programming #remotejobs #remotework

What happens when DEI is not prioritized, pursued, and intentionally practiced? The few networks and organizations dedicated to inclusion and representation are also (consequently) impacted. This is not an issue that only affects the tech industry (although it is rampant!). The intentional attacks against DEI impact all industries, including education, healthcare, private, etc. The real question is what can WE do NOW to protect AND promote DEI?
Dear Girls in Tech Community, It is with a heavy heart that I announce the closing of Girls in Tech. For 17 years, we have empowered and inspired women in tech, working tirelessly to eliminate the gender gap. Together, we’ve reached over 250,000 people across 35 chapters in 30 countries. Girls in Tech has always been more than an organization—it’s a community built on love and passion for technology. I am immensely proud of what we’ve built together and the lasting impact we’ve made. Thank you to our members, Managing Directors, Advisory Board teams, headquarters staff, sponsors, and board of directors. Though we’re closing, our mission will live on through your continued efforts. With love and gratitude, Adriana Gascoigne CEO and Founder, Girls in Tech #GirlsInTech #WomenInTech #Farewell

#A Call to Action for the #TechCommunity ***I will always cherish the group that welcomed a woman who moved continents to a country with an unfamiliar language, surrounded her with confident and strong mentors, and helped her find the job of her dreams*** The closure of #WomenWhoCode and now today #GirlsinTech is a significant loss for the tech industry. These organisations have been instrumental in driving diversity, inclusion, and equity. Their legacies should inspire the tech community to #reflect on how we can do better support and sustain such critical movements, considering the #majorbias we have out there in tech, in data, AI, ML dev, indeed the inequality is real and about to impact us all on an even greater scale over the next 10 years. As we bid farewell to these organisations, we must remember that their missions are far from complete. The tech industry still urgently needs diverse perspectives to drive innovation and foster a healthy digital ecosystem that prioritises long-term benefits over short-term profits, ensuring a brighter future for the next generation. As #SerenaWilliams continuously highlights the broader landscape of funding for female-led initiatives has been challenging year after year. As of 2023, female-founded startups in the US received only about 2% of all venture capital funding. This stark disparity underscores the systemic issues women face in securing financial support, not just for startups, but clearly for established organisations dedicated to empowering the future of women in tech. We encourage everyone who has benefited from these communities to #continuetheirwork, support other like-minded organisations, and strive to create a tech industry where everyone can thrive - it all starts at home #empowerment. As a volunteer, and Global Communication Lead for Women at Adobe, I want to thank both organisations, the volunteers, staff, sponsors, and supporters of Women Who Code and Girls in Tech. Your contributions have made a lasting impact on me personally, and so many many more, I hope what you have started will continue in all of us to inspire future generations of women in tech and build toward equality and diversity in digital.

How sad! Girls in Tech, Inc. shut down shortly after Women Who Code. It's hard for every organization to get the funds and volunteers to keep sustainable, but why, lately, are those empowering women in engineering specifically being de-funded most? Thanks to Women Who Code and Girls in Tech for your work. Let's revert this bad trend with a big growth of others like AnitaB.org, Women in AI, Women In Technology (WIT), WomenTech Network, ... please tag more in the comments.
