hey connection here is my article on Virtual reality Virtual reality (VR) refers to a computer-generated simulation of a three-dimensional environment that can be interacted with in a seemingly real or physical way. It immerses users in a digital environment through specialized hardware, typically a VR headset, and sometimes additional peripherals like motion controllers. Key components of virtual reality include: 1. **Headset:** The VR headset is a crucial component, worn over the eyes to provide a visual and often auditory experience. It tracks head movements, allowing users to look around the virtual environment as if they were physically present. 2. **Graphics and Display:** VR demands high-quality graphics to create a convincing environment. The display inside the headset needs to offer a high refresh rate and low latency to avoid motion sickness and provide a smooth experience. 3. **Audio:** Spatial audio is integrated to enhance the sense of presence. It mimics the way sound behaves in the real world, providing a more immersive experience. 4. **Sensors and Tracking:** VR systems use various sensors to track movement. This can include external sensors placed in the room, infrared sensors, or cameras on the headset itself. Tracking allows the system to understand the user's position and adjust the virtual environment accordingly. 5. **Controllers:** VR often involves handheld controllers, allowing users to interact with the virtual world. These controllers can have buttons, triggers, and motion sensors for a more intuitive experience. 6. **Haptic Feedback:** Some advanced VR systems incorporate haptic feedback devices, such as gloves or vests, to simulate the sense of touch, enhancing the overall immersion. 7. **Motion Capture:** In certain applications, motion capture systems can be used to replicate a user's body movements in the virtual environment. VR finds applications in various fields, including gaming, education, healthcare, training simulations, architecture, and more. As technology advances, VR experiences continue to improve in realism and accessibility. However, challenges such as motion sickness, cost, and the need for powerful hardware still exist. #snsinstitutions #snsdesignthinkers #designthinking

Can XR enhance safety and compliance training? What is XR: XR (Extended Reality), is an umbrella term encompassing Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, and Mixed Reality. Using XR simulations (just like playing games on oculus headset!) offers a multitude of benefits. Especially in industries where precision and safety are paramount, XR can: 1. Improve training outcomes because personnel can actually interact spatially instead of looking at presentations and static physical models 2. Reduce costs to conduct the training… meeting physically and organization training can be a big cost - especially if done several times a year which is often the case to maintain compliance 3. Gather insights from analytics that be built into to the XR models… leading to improving the training. I have explained these and other use cases in my blog.
