Interaction trends I see for 2024 🧠 Based on some projects I am currently working on I have been thinking about what I see as pivotal emerging (and emerged in a lot of cases) technologies regarding user experiences in 2024, unveiling a landscape characterised by innovation and its transformative potential for how we interact with services, brands and organisations: 👍 Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Large Language Models (LLMs): Is key to all my current ventures and projects, it's impossible to avoid. Focused on generative AI, AI for automation, and the transformative influence of LLMs on human-computer interactions. I have a more detailed look at this coming later this week. 👊 Extended Reality/Augmented Reality (AR): Exploration of the promising realms of AR, contrasting its opportunities with virtual reality. The anticipated Apple's Vision Pro headset is heightening anticipation I believe, alongside rumoured launches from Google, Pico and Samsung Electronics (and I'm sure many others). 🧑🚀 Spatial Computing: Linked to the above but seamlessly blending digital and physical worlds through cutting-edge technologies like AR to create more immersive flexible interfaces. Nimo Planet is a good-looking start-up in this space, though I have yet to have a hands-on experience. 🏘 Smart Homes/Connected Devices: Smart home technologies facilitated by AI and ubiquitous computing will offer new user experience paradigms with an emphasis on interacting with information in sensor-augmented environments. 💥New Interaction Paradigms: Shifting the focus from traditional screens and pointing devices towards more natural, group-based, and contextualised interaction models empowered by AI. ⚡️Automation Through AI: Harnessing machine learning to automate intricate organisational processes through the analysis of extensive data stores, enabling experiences without interfaces.
