Day 4 of Denver Startup Week: Transition
On this day, I start transitioning into integrating DSW insights.
My only session for the day was the DSW Closing Party @ Dierks Bentley's Whiskey Row. During this event, as during the entire week, I had 0 expectations, so I wasn’t worried when I sat down at an empty booth with a complimentary Blue Moon 🍺🌑
I wasn’t worried or anxious, because I know that I am meant to be here, in this moment. I had also mentally prepped myself, planning to feel confident in 80% of my interactions. (The other 20% I considered my stretch zone). Throughout the evening, 5 individuals sat down with me, and the conversations had were inspiring. I am always struck by the positive serendipity that occurs when I allow myself to just be where I am, and react to the stimuli around me in real time.
The party was then transitioned downstairs. The shuffle to get hundreds of founders down those stairs yielded even more conspicuous conversations. I even met a man testing out his logo with a tactile voting board! I was surprised I did not see more of that kind of thing. I do still get the sense at DSW, overall, that the vibe is being felt out (even after 13 years).
This is the case because each year, the state of Colorado witnesses a massive change in its constituency. I suspect Denver as a city will find its footing & its “branding” once its most notorious People do : but that’s just #mygrainofsalt.
My time was up - I had to go. I spotted a few familiar faces in the crowd and said goodbye. This week has filled my socialization cup immensely. I love meeting people at events. When considered altogether, this “web” of connection is truly singular. You never know when a one-off conversation with someone could lead to something Big! 🕸️
I cherish & enjoy nourishing the connections I make, be it at professional events like this, in line for a coffee, or through my social network. I do find it essential to give myself time & space to unfold that which I do, encounter, & experience at such events. Reflection is, oftentimes, a secret ingredient. 🍲
Next post out Friday! 🗓️
