Thank you to everyone who came out to TeamWorking by TechNexus last night for the documentary screening of The First Class hosted by Code Your Dreams and CS4IL! From parents and educators to technologists and founders, we had a diverse group of individuals passionate about creating change for our students. So many things from this screening resonates with the work we do at CYD: project-based learning, student-centered learning, social-emotional learning, trauma-informed learning…these are all significant to making our programs successful. Big shout out to Mark Smithivas for organizing this event and getting access to this exclusive screening for all of us!

Thank you Mark Smithivas, Brianne Caplan 🌟, and Steve Svetlik for collaborating so that a group could gather for this learning experience. All day, I’ve been thinking of how we all chose to be there, to grow and develop ourselves as educators, members of the Chicago edtech scene, and as citizens passionate about our country’s future. Thank you for reminding me of the value of film to stimulate authentic and thoughtful discussion. We had a full on socratic seminar to debrief what we had all seen and it was awesome 😎🤓🧠.
