Throughout my military journey, I've been both a witness and a participant in the complex dance of leadership. The most disheartening observation? Leaders who are adept at throwing darts at others' faults but fail to see their own. It's a stark reminder that emotional intelligence holds equal weight to achieving results in leadership.
Before we claim to be the best or ready for the next step, it's imperative to get our own house in order. Leadership isn't just about pointing outwards; it's about looking inwards with a critical eye. It's about ensuring that our actions align with the values we preach.
You might find, upon this introspection, that you're not just climbing towards the pinnacle—you're already there, leading by example. Let's strive for leadership that embodies both the head and the heart, where results are achieved through self-awareness and emotional acuity.
And before you throw that dart try to get some context because you might find you don’t have all the information.
