Last week I was asked to sum up my marketing strategy in just one sentence. Now this is obviously tough, as there is always contextual factors that are vital to a strategies implementation/success. What works for a fashion company, might not work for a supplement company... right? Not really! The principles that underpin a marketers strategies should be consistent from business to business and niche to niche. For me it's simple: Give value first, try sell later. Everything you do should be about providing genuine value to your audience. Content so good that your audience is consistently looking forward to hearing from you again and again and again. This is the best way to retain eyes, have people fall in love with your brand, and pay no attention to your competitors who are just trying to sell them. The businesses who can afford to provide the MOST value for the LONGEST period of time will always win in the long run... And none of us are in our businesses just for short-term results.

It's time to ask these five simple marketing questions if you want your business to grow.... 1️⃣ What brands will we operate? If you have multiple brands/products then there may be too many or the need to create a strategy for each. 2️⃣ What customers will be targeted? No, the answer is not everyone! Start with a single group so you can learn, adapt and change as required. 3️⃣ What is your position to those targets? This could offer several 'framing' questions to start with, until you land on the right one. 4️⃣ What are the brand codes/stand outs. Those recognisable or distinct assets that are already in the mind of the consumer and how are you going to leverage them. 5️⃣ What are the strategic objectives? Choose one or two, non-financial results as this will make the measuring and achieving more accurate. ----- Marketing is not rocket science, its about asking the right questions in the right order and then trying to forget that you are a marketer....
