If you are cold calling and I pick up the phone, get to the point. It's a cold call; it's irrelevant how I am this morning. I might answer "bad," and most of the time, people say "good" because they are following a script. Don't ask, "Is this a good time?" You're wasting time. Just say, "Hi, good [morning/afternoon/evening]," and get to the point. Don't ask, "Is this a good time?" You know what? It's never a good time to get a cold call. So get to the point.

How I learned to cold call: (I struggled A LOT when I started) "What should I say?" "What if I look stupid? "What if they shout at me?'' When I felt like this I reminded myself: - Expect objections - Lean on your script - Focus on your tonality - Have a clear reason for calling - Don't take rejection too personally - If you mess it up, at least you've tried Remembering these points meant I kept making dials. The more I dialled → the stronger my cold calling muscle got. So, if you're just starting out with calling, remember; The first 1000 calls = hardest. The next 1000 calls = hard. The next 1000 calls = ok. Mastery takes time. ✍️ Agree? Disagree? ♻️ Repost if you agree. --- 📌 My new cold call course helps people double their conversation to meeting rate. Live cold call of me handling all the BASIC objections Should I have pitch slapped him early? 1) Not interested 2) This is my personal cell 3) Where did you get my number 4) You’re the 5th person to call me today Pros: 1) cool and calm 2) answered his questions directly 3) didn’t fold at objections Cons: 1) didn’t listen/ understand him later in call 2) messed up meeting time a little Thoughts on the call? Happy international cold calling day.

Great insight into why you shouldn’t ask if it’s the prospect on the other line Another way of thinking about the scenario. If someone gave you another contacts number and said call them, you would call them and ask is this “contact name” you’d say hey “contact name” “so and so” gave me your number.
"Hey, is this Nick?" The worst call opener ever. Confirming if you have the right person hurts you: When you ask whether or not you have the right person, you make it extremely obvious that you don’t actually know the person’s voice and you’re a stranger (aka, a telemarketer). If they end up not being the prospect you thought they were, trust me that they’ll correct you.

"the reports of my death are greatly exaggerated" Mark Twain / every cold caller in relation to the sentiment cold calling is redundundant or dead... It really really isn't dead. However what has changed down the years is that simply bashing the phone hoping that law of averages kick in doesn't work unless you happen to stumble upon a needle in a haystack (this law of averages was fundamental to all cold callers training back 'in the day'). What has always worked best is targetted approaches, learning about your potential customer, honing your elevator pitch, understanding where you/your service/your solution can directly benefit that potential customer and tailoring that approach, your tone of voice, perhaps your body language whilst trying to KISS (keep it short and simple)...its not easy, but it works with the correct approach. An approach we at #MyGoToMarket's founder has honed successfully over the years resulting in multi million pound deals from a clear net new "outbound" strategy. “Stop saying cold calling is dead”💀 I swear, has anybody seen someone say cold calling is dead? Pick up the phone and dial.

If your Cold Calls have stopped working, try this... 7 quick 10-second fixes: ---- Create an ''Opener'' you feel comfy with ↳ Make it easy to say with a good tone Use the SAME Opener on every call ↳ The riches are in the repetitions Include your full name in your Opener ↳ Build MORE credibility from the get go Cut long monologues and pitches ↳ Deliver your opener and wait for a reply Answer objections by GIVING context ↳ Tell them MORE about you/your company Mention their title and a specific problem ↳ Do this when saying the reason you're calling If someone shuts you down, use mirroring ↳ Eg. ''Not interested''? ''Too busy''? Looking for a Cold Call script to help improve your conversations? Start here: https://lnkd.in/gEQmqsa2) PS. I've done >150k Cold Calls and still counting ☎️

I’ve been cold calling for 2 months. 4 lessons I didn’t know at first: 1️⃣ Search for a name Gate keepers are more likely to transfer you to the decision-maker if you know their name. If the name is invalid, ask who the DM is. 2️⃣ Call back and they’ll forget about you If the first call was terrible, call in a few weeks. You get more than one chance. 3️⃣ Follow a script (at first) Without it, I was a nervous wreck. After 2 weeks, I didn’t need it anymore. Prepare for objections, and for them to say yes. 4️⃣ How do you talk to a friend? Talk to them the same way. Don’t get intimated by their status. Like this essay, I share everything I learn in life. Get 1% better every day. Actionable ideas every Tuesday: lifewithchris.substack.com

3moi'm all about the shameless approach "hey I know i'm super annoying and you wanna swat me like a wasp coming at your tasty lunch. But if you give me 30 seconds I can prove I don't sting!"
