Check out this feature about the Blank Center!
As a young child, Genesis Sedillo felt like a failure because no matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t stop stuttering. The Arthur M. Blank Center for Stuttering Education and Research's innovative treatment showed her she can communicate effectively and be successful, even with a stutter. “The CARE Model has made a huge impact on my home life,” says Genesis, who graduated earlier this year from The College of Education at The University of Texas at Austin. “(My family) started to see I could live a great life, stutter or no stutter.” #TexasResearch #WhatStartsHere #ItStartsWithResearch #DreamSpeakLive #ItsOkToStutter Moody College of Communication The University of Texas at Austin Texas Exes

January 29, 2025, Boston, MA—Keri Rodrigues, the president of the National Parents Union, released a statement on the 2024 NAEP Scores: “This is a national disgrace. Today’s NAEP scores confirm what parents have been sounding the alarm on for years—our education system is failing, and our leaders are letting it happen. Despite an unprecedented $190 billion in federal investment meant to accelerate learning recovery, too many states have nothing to show for it except worsening outcomes. Our children are falling further behind, and no one in power seems to care. We are demanding action. It’s time to stop pretending that ‘business as usual’ is acceptable—because these results are a disaster. We need to follow the lead of states and districts that have done well and ensure that others emulate them. States have been handed billions, yet remain out of compliance with federally mandated improvement plans while student performance plummets. Congress must step up and fulfil its duty to provide oversight and launch a full investigation into how this money was spent. https://lnkd.in/eiU9YQUr

Three years after establishing the Stephen and Jana Foster Endowed Scholarship in Physical Therapy, Steve (‘80) and Jana Foster have added $100,000 to the fund to increase the scholarship to the Dean level—which requires a minimum of $250,000—to support more physical therapy students in the UAB School of Health Professions. Their aim is simple: to help affirm students’ decision to pursue physical therapy and help relieve the financial burden accompanying that decision. Read the story here: https://lnkd.in/eMD4eY2i
